Tracers-lite -- a non-series story set in Tracers series world but not up to author's usual standards
Not sure what to make of this book. It's not part of the Tracers series, yet it's set in the Tracers imaginary world. Crossovers from Tracers series books include assorted characters like Alex Lovell, Elizabeth Leblanc, and Nathan Devereaux and locations like the Delphi Center, San Antonio FBI field office, and Austin PD. The story takes place well after book 1 but before book 8. The Tracers characters and settings made the story more engaging for me as a fan of the series. Unfortunately those attractive elements didn't overcome some of the aspects of the story that made it a 3-star read. First, it was LONG. If I had had anything interesting in my to-be-read stack I might have given up. The central mystery is intriguing and keeps you guessing, but unraveling that takes a VERY LONG time. Or so it seemed. There was a lot of questioning and surveilling and not so much action until later in the book. That made the first half drag for me. Second, the H/h seemed totally stereotypes -- son from well-to-do family of doctors chooses law enforcement meets daughter of poor, alcoholic single mother, orphaned early with abandonment issues. And there's a ne'er-do-well younger sibling that draws the H/h deeper into the mystery. Third, the couple don't really seem to fit. In the Tracers series, there is something about each member of a H/h couple that makes him/her irresistable to the other. Here, both are attractive, driven people who share a passion for their work (both law enforcement) but that extra something is missing. The romance isn't as steamy as Tracers books either. Still, any mystery by LG is good -- law enforcement tracking down bad guys, clever plot keeps you guessing, exciting action sequences, timely stories reflecting today's world, characters you care about (mostly), etc. This one wasn't quite up to LG's usual standards, but not a bad way to pass the time til the next Tracers story comes out.

Gripping. I couldn't put it down!
I absolutely could not put this book down. I loved the fast pace, the characters, the story. I finished this book in two sittings, only because I had to take a sleep break! This is one of my favorite Laura Griffin books. And I loved the references to the Delphi Center and Alex fron the Tracers series. If you like Laura Griffin, you will love this fast paced and gripping book. I was actually sad that it ended because I was enjoying it so much.

Better than Chocolate
I stumbled onto Laura Griffin last year and her books have has quickly become an insatiable obsession, right up there with Lee Child. I have read her entire back list and quickly grabbed Far Gone. Her books are fun, fast, romantic and tense. Far Gone was no exception. I loved Andrea and Jon. I also forced myself to read this book like a stingy chocoholic, doling out a little each day so it would last longer. Now I am anxiously awaiting the next Tracers novel.

Good read
I received this book free from the author but also purchased it on my kindle, this does not affect my review of the book. Andrea is on a date with a guy she is not into and a guy comes in that she thinks is acting strange. From there it only gets worse for her. She is put on leave until a review is done, she doesn't have a boyfriend, her brother who is a genius on computers has left college to help a friend of his that she knows is a bad guy. Follow along to see what the outcome of all this is.

Another winner for Laura Griffin!
I remember a few years ago, fresh with a new Kindle, discovering Laura Griffin. I was giddy as a schoolgirl, finding a "new" author. Now a few years later, after enjoying all of her books, she still has it! Far Gone kept me engaged and before I knew it, I had finished ... however, my enjoyment is not so "far gone!" I won't get into the storyline as you can read the synopsis on your own. While some characters from her Tracers series make a brief appearance, you can almost read this as a stand-alone.

Very Disappointed
I have read many of Laura Griffin's books and have enjoyed them very much. This book, Far Gone, was really difficult for me to get through. There was no romance whatsoever. The female lead character, Andrea, was cold and unlikeable. The male lead character, Jon, wasn't much better. They had sex once, but they continued treating each other badly. There was nothing warm and fuzzy about their relationship. Suddenly at the end of the book, they were in love. I have no idea where that came from. The plot was complicated, and not in a good way, and hard to follow. There were agents and officers from various government agencies involved in trying to get evidence on and capturing the bad guys. Then the agents and officers were constantly driving or flying to and from several different cities all through the book. Why? Don't know. The bad guy was supposed to be super scary bad. I never felt the fear. Lastly, there was Andrea's brother, Gavin, who was a young adult. He was unbelievably naïve and self-absorbed. I will still keep reading Laura Griffin's work. I hope this book was just a fluke. I guess you can't expect a home run every time.

great as usual
Terrific mystery with great (but flawed) characters & an action packed plot. I loved the pacing & realistic portrayal of police work involving a lot of fussy tracking of boring details to build the case. This book kept my interest every step of the way & I could not put it down as the big capture scene unfolded. Laura Griffin is a terrific writer!
