Three Bear Family Sorting Bowls, Set of 6 Bowls, Assorted Colors, 6" in Diameter, Ages 4+

As you can see from my photos, I bought these bowls for sorting and counting activities and they are working great! I also purchased their tweezers set.

I use these with both my 4 year old and 2 year old, just in different ways. We only have the baby bear counters right now, but the other members of the "3 bear family" are on their way! It is a task in itself for my 2 year old to sort the bears out by color, but he loves doing it! I have my 4 year old sort them into their corresponding bowls for use with the pattern cards, just so it's easier to find when she needs them. Plus, I figure it's still a good skill to continually work on. I love that I don't really have to give them much guidance (not because I don't want to help) because it really seems to help build their self-esteem and self-confidence. They are so proud when they have finished, and have "done it all by themselves!"

I know a lot of people are upset by how 'shallow' these bowls are but as an educator these bowls are perfect for children developing new skills such as sorting by color, number, shape, size. They are also very good for limiting the amount of fluid/sensory materials when playing in a home setting. My child is limited from using too much colored water or oatmeal by the size of the bowl and it helps to contain the size of the mess in my house. The shallowness of the bowls also helps with learning to use scoops and tweezers because it contains a small amount of the materials and allows for repetative practice.

These colored bowls are so versatile! Color recognition and sorting! Even eating snacks that match the bowl color! I am able to find an activity for every theme I do in my daycare with these bowls. Definitely buy!

These bowls are terrific and versatile! I bought them along with the sorting bears, but since my child is a little young for sorting (just barely two), we are using the bowls alone to learn the colors. We line them up on the couch or the floor and name the colors. Then, I ask my son to show me where the "green one" is. He thinks it is great fun! He also loves stacking them back together when we are done. We will start using the sorting bears with the bowls in a few months.

I bought these bowl to use with my preschool class. The colors are great. I gave 4 stars because they are shallow.
