I also have the bigger version with the cushion on/off switch and it started to fail, so I decided to try this one. It has a solid on/off button. Things to consider: There is only one level of brightness, it uses 1 AA battery (not sure how often I'll be changing batteries) , and it has no hanging strap. But I think it will fulfill what I need on my night walk without being too big/heavy.

I have had this flashlight for almost 2 years. It is very sturdy, feels solid and provides a lot of light for such a small package. I recently had a problem where the light would not go on despite the batteries testing good. I replaced the batteries anyway and sent an email to the manufacturer asking for help. I was amazed to promptly get a response with suggestions for correcting the problem and asking for my address and purchase invoice. Following the advice the flashlight worked perfectly again. I wrote the mfg. to so advise him of that and they responded thanking me and told me that if the problem returned to let them know and they would send me a label to return the light or replacement. The customer service from this company is exceptional I would strongly recommend purchasing this light. It is without a doubt the nicest small flashlight I have ever owned.

Held up to a year of use, never got really wet but was taken on rainy days and nights in a back pocket. Max setting is properly bright and settings 3 and 4, I bought another one. It comes with replacement rings for the LED and the button mechanism and a replacement button, I have had no need of them yet, and lanyard is thick and able to be tightened well. Lanyard has been attached since day one.

I really like this flashlight. So much so, I just bought a second one. I can’t speak to the battery life yet, but I think one uses it efficiently, i.e. using only the light that you need and not full brightness all the time, it will last a good amount of time. Besides, we’re talking about two AA’s. The amount of light this produces on high is outstanding. Plus, the area that it lights up is equally impressive, even with the wide flood area. I have 3 and 4 D cell flashlights that are very nice, but this is my go-to when I walk the dogs. I need to mention that there are for levels of brightness. I use med-high or high walking the dogs, but the very low and medium will be perfect for diy tasks, especially in the attic or crawl space. Plus, the supplied adjustable lanyard will help tremendously with accidentally leaving it behind while working. A lot of us have done that, yes? I think it is a perfect tool in a flashlight. Solidly built, tactile and extremely functional. Very impressive.
