Check function before assembly
Waterproof construction seems solid, easy to install. Sometimes requires a couple of throttle cycles at first run to get the ESC behaving properly (I have noticed they will make some odd noises the first thrust and then normalize the second time) but otherwise seem fine and good value for the price. I ordered 6 of these (3 CW 3CCW) for a UAV project. I wish I had tested these when I received them, because 2 out of 6 had faulty ESCs. Not complaining about customer service, I didn't try to return them because I'd already installed them into my drone and water-sealed them to the hull, but if I had not done that I would have returned the bad ones for replacement

Able to propel a 15' canoe
Two trustees and a car battery. Able to move at a fair pace in still water and 1-7mph wind. Plan to check current draw the next time out out of water test under load 4 amps. I also plan to mount under the canoe for better speed.

Dont buy unless you don't need instructions that are correct.
Product arrived in generic white box(which was open) with no paperwork or instructions. It comes with a motor and 4 screws. Nothing else. The "instructions" on the Amazon page are flat out wrong. There is a white wire that comes out of the motor but it is not reference in the "instructions". I decided rather than cross-wiring it and burning the thing up, its easier to return and never buy this brand again. You would think whomever is managing this category at Amazon would have the novel thought of requiring correct instructions.

***update I was wrong. Just ignore the white wire. I don't know why I get 5v to ground off the signal wire. Tried to power my arduino off off it and it falls to 1v. Poor ground isolation. Ignored the white wire and used to yellow as signal and all is working now. They really really need to update the listing and wiring diagram. The wiring description is incorrect. The listing clearly states that the esc does not come with a BEC. What ever model they are shipping now does in fact have a BEC. There are four wires off the esc. The yellow wire in 5v to ground. It is not the signal wire as described. The white wire is the signal and the yellow is 5v. I blew a $30 Arduino discovering this. I’m giving 3 stars instead of 1 because this actually helps me not needing a BEC or voltage buck in my project.
