*UPDATED* After 4 years of use....
*UPDATE*This February will make 4 years since I ordered this bed. I still give it a 5* rating. I know that this particular bed isn't made anymore, but I wanted to leave an update anyway for those looking for a reasonably priced, quality bed. The current models are probably even better, if that is possible. This bed still gives the same support I need and has held up great. I was a little concerned when I bought it that over time the foam would break down with use, but it hasn't. Every six months or so I spin it around to rotate it, head to foot, even though it didn't say that it was needed. It is just a habit I've had for years, like rotating the tires on my car. To help keep wear even. I am planning on getting my 12 yr old boys the newer version 5" twin sized for their new bunk bed this year. Their other mattresses are basic and are not comfortable for them as they get older.*ORIGINAL REVIEW*I've waited a few months to write this review as I wanted to have enough time to give a thorough opinion as its been my first mattress that was not a Serta innerspring/foam hybrid. To sum up I love it! It did take a couple of weeks to adjust and I had muscle soreness in the mornings at first as it was more firm than I was used to however at the same time I also had much less lower back pain in the mornings. I was a delivery driver for over 6 years and have been in multiple car accidents that have messed up my back and neck over the years and finding the right bed was daunting. After a week or two of research I decided to give this one a try. It does get more comfortable after it has had use. I no longer wake up with pain, my left leg doesn't go numb while sleeping anymore and I sleep through the whole night without waking! I hadn't done that in years. I do have it on a Serta adjustable frame that it works great with (I personally love the Zero G position with my back and neck) and it is the most comfortable bed I have ever owned and cost half as much as the high quality innerspring Serta hybrid beds I had been looking at. I definitely recommend this bed to anyone with skeletal issues of any kind. I personally did not experience any of the weird "smell" others have mentioned and I'm not sure if that is just something the company fixed or if it is possibly due to the (6 sided/zipper closure pictured in my review) waterproof cover that they offer as an additional purchase. I highly recommend getting that cover as well! Worth the money and really doesn't cost much more than a regular mattress protector. The only thing I have noticed is that it does build up heat to a certain extent under you and I just made up for that by sleeping with less blankets on top. Usually I just have my sheets and a lightweight fleece blanket and no longer wake up warm. It was delivered really fast, I think I got it literally 2-3 days after I ordered it. It was heavy and I suggest having someone there to help unbox it and flip it over before opening the inner wrap to let it expand. I did give it the full 48hrs before I started using it even though it looked fully expanded within a couple of hours. I just feel like following the directions is important even if it looks like it is done visually. It may be important for the stability of the mattress over time. We let it sit on the bottom part of the plastic it came in (we removed the top and sides of the wrap) on the floor level during that time and didn't put the cover on until after. When the 48hrs was up we put the cover on it and lifted it onto the frame. It is heavy but not too too heavy. My 15yr old daughter and I were able to move it without any extra help. It has held up great so far and I personally have not had any issues with it caving in or sinking that some have had. Definitely was well worth the money. The only other issue I have had was fitting it with bottom sheets. None of my current ones fit as it is so thick. I suggest looking for bottom sheets that either fit mattresses up to 16" (mine had only fit up to 14" so I had to get some new ones) or just getting a bottom sheet a size larger than the size of mattress you get. That's the only thing I can think of that hasn't been mentioned yet that I have seen. I will definitely be replacing everyone else's mattresses with these over time as they need a new one. I for one will never be able to go back to a regular mattress again... I hope this review helps someone else who is having a difficult time trying to find a new bed with all of the choices out there. Just give it a good chance and at least a month to adjust fully if you are not used to this type of bed before making any decision to return it or get something else. I was completely in love with it by the end of the first month.

How we found an excellent sleep for a great price
Our old inner spring mattress was long overdue to be replaced. My wife was complaining of fatigue, muscle soreness and stiffness every morning and she is very healthy and athletic, so we knew it must be the mattress. We had put off buying a new mattress for such a long time mainly because the mattress buying experience is so frustratingly daunting, but now we felt there was no choice waiting any longer. We first visited the mattress stores and laid upon multitudes of beds, all of which seemed pretty comfortable but varied in price from $500 inner springs to $8000 Tempurpedics. We had never tried the memory foam mattresses before, but my wife actually said that her back stopped hurting immediately when laying down on them. We both agreed that the memory foams were the most comfortable and gravitated to a Serta icomfort medium density foam mattress, which retailed for about $2000. I was not mentally prepared to drop that much money on a mattress yet. I was expecting to spend about $1000. (I haven't shopped for a mattress in 20 years!).While doing research online, I stumbled upon the website "sleeplikethedead.com" and read much advice about buying mattresses. It had many reviews of online mattress retailers and said that customer satisfaction was as good if not better with online purchases. From there I started exploring Amazon, Costco, Overstock etc, and soon realized I could buy a $2-3000 mattress for about one fourth the price. I knew it was risky, but there were too many awesome reviews to ignore.Ultimately, we decided on the Lucid 16" mattress because of the almost perfect ratings here, and also because it was on Amazon (we are Amazon addicts). Being a bit nervous about the purchase of a very large item that would be expensive and next to impossible to repack to return, I decided to look up the seller, LinenSpa, and give them a call. Much to my surprise, when I called an actual live person answered after a couple of rings. The woman there was very polite and answered my questions about the mattress and the return policy. She said that the Amazon 30 day return policy applies and that Amazon would arrange to have a courier pick it up if we wanted to return it so we wouldn't have to deal with repacking it. Being assured, I ordered the mattress after hanging up.We are Amazon Prime members so 2 day shipping was free, but it gave me the option of next day shipping for only $3.99 so I opted for that. As an unexpected bonus, no sales tax was added either. However other reviewers here said the price was much lower recently and it's too bad I missed out. However, the price I paid was still a very reasonable price of $650 for a queen. The mattress arrived via FedEx 24 hours later and I had it set up in our bed frame within minutes. I had spent the morning adding several additional cross slats to our bed frame to support the new heavy mattress. Watching the mattress unfurl and expand was pretty amazing. The chemical smell was present but not overpowering or unpleasant. However, the thickness of the mattress is freakishly high. The Mattress is at least as high as both our old box spring and mattress combined (my wife says we only have one set of sheets that will fit it currently). We have had the mattress for over a week now, and the difference in comfort is extreme. The sensation of memory foam is pretty trippy at first, but you get used to it quickly. The mattress seemed pretty soft the first night but it has either firmed up over time or we've just adapted to it. Sitting down on the mattress you will sink down a couple inches, but I think that's typical of MF mattresses. The important thing is that you don't wake up feeling like you were playing football during the night. I don't think the quantity of sleep for us has changed, but the quality is MUCH better. One last thing, when we were at the mattress stores they stressed how important it was to have a proper foundation for a MF mattress. I thought our old ratty box spring would suffice, but I discovered it was more "spring" than "box" so we decided to get a matching Lucid box spring from LinenSpa on Amazon for $150. When it arrived, we were inserting a it under the 16" Lucid mattress when I noticed a tag on the mattress that said "not for use with a foundation". We put the 9" base under the 16" mattress anyways to see what it was like, and it made the mattress ridiculously high in my opinion. However, my wife likes it that high (about 3'), so we are trying it out for awhile. That height makes it awkward to sit on the bed without having to hop up onto it and then having your feet dangling (and I'm 5'10". We have discovered the height is convenient for "other" things though, but I won't get into that!

Great matress.
The mattress so far has been amazing. It arrived in a very beat up box like a lot of other reviews here have stated. But the mattress itself was undamaged. It was easy to move out of the box and no where near as dirty. I rolled it up the stairs myself without issue. It took a full day to fully return to its proper size. "Off gassing" was minimal it didn't bother me at all. We slept on it that night. The matress: It was stiffer at first but has gotten softer over time. Motion transfer is almost nonexistent. It's stiff enough that you don't get stuck in it. Edge support is not there so don't sleep right on the edge and you will be fine. It's winter here so we haven't had a problem with it sleeping hotter yet. Very comfortable.Sleep: I sleep a lot deeper. I seem to require less sleep now. I wakeup without stiffness or feeling tired. I wish I bought this year's ago.Other activities: It's a fun matress. It has a little bit of bounce to it. And because you sink into it, it gives you something to push off of.We have only had it for 3 weeks. So my opinion might change. But so far, it's the best matress we have ever owned. I have spent a lot more on a top end matress. So far this one is my favorite

Excellent product at a very competitive price
Excellent mattress. Extremely comfortable, off-gassed in about 48 hours. It is quite heavy and this caused a problem for delivery. UPS refused to deliver, but Amazon handled the problem solving very well. I am less than impressed by UPS though. The mattress sleeps a bit warm, but this is to be expected given it is memory foam. The price is very competitive. I would highly recommend and am likely going to get another one for my spare room.

I absolutely love this mattress
I absolutely love this mattress. I Let it poof up for 72 hrs b4 sleeping on it. There was a little smell but I had a fan on in the room an the door open so it wasn’t bad at all. It’s awesome for a side sleeper like me, no more sore pressure points when u wake up.

Best nights sleep ever.
One night so far and i have never slept better. It is quite soft yet very supportive it is good height but if i where to order another i would go with a 12" or 14" although mine only really expanded to 15 inches.I was worried about heat as generally i don't sleep well warm and it was a hot day yesterday (32 +) so i tried only sleeping with a top sheet, the only time i woke up was because i was cold and had to find a blanket. Its amazing how i woke in pretty much the same spot and position that i fell asleep in.another reviewer mentioned that the mattress did not fully fill the cover i am seeing similar in the center on one side of the mattress along the edge. Its minimal and does not affect the comfort. The top of the cover is quite green (but i like green) it is quite soft and it is a shame to have use a fitted sheet about that..get one that says it will fit up to and 18" mattress because its tight to get it down and under. The box came pretty beat up and its heavy definitely a 2 person job to get it upstairs. The box was quite dirty and i will have to steam clean my stairs to get rid of the dirt.My only real gripe about the mattress is the lack of handles, every mattress should have at least 2 handles sewn to the cover on the long sides and 1 on each short side. At very minimum 2 handles on each long side. unfortunately this mattress has absolutely zero handles.I will try to remember to update this review a month from now then 3 months from now and after a year then again upon its failure.1 month update :I am finding that It's actually quite warm I wake up about 5-6 times a night because of it. Kinda wishing I got a cooling gel one... We will see how it goes.

Fails to live up to the usual reasons for owning a memory foam mattress
I've owned cheaper memory foam mattresses that had the following qualities:1. They were comfortable and my body sunk a bit into it.2. Someone sleeping next to me couldn't tell if I moved, and vice versa.3. I didn't wake up with constant back pain every dayThis bed fails to live up to all of the three above. I am very surprised by #3.. Even as I'm typing this, I have a bowl of grapes next to me on the bed, and it is shaking from the mere vibrations of the typing of the keys. Please, don't do this experiment with a glass of wine. It will shake and spill all over your useless new memory foam purchase.
