Action Tripod

I bought this for my husband who is a semi-pro photographer and videographer and has all the cutting edge equipment and computers. He loves this little camera because it is fun and he can just hook it up to his computer and post a blog or send the video to me. It worked flawlessly (we have all Macs) from the get go. Fun and the quality was better than I anticipated. I recommend it : )

This little gadget does work and I have two of them. I have strapped them to shopping carts, jogging strollers and handlebars. The product does hold pretty well too.

I use this on my quad on some tough trails. I expected the plastic to break but it didn't. Strong product however with all the bouncing the mount,with flip camera attached, would rotate.

Tried this out yesterday on a mountain bike ride. It keeps the camera secure, which is good. It was hard to make sure that the mount was on the crown of my helmet, but some of that is due to my helmet (Giro Pneumo). Most of my video was of the ground about 10 feet in front of my bike. I think that I have it adjusted better now but I won't get a chance to try it out until next weekend. The quality of the video the camera gives is well worth the effort to get the mount to work. Even going in and out of the shade in the woods the picture was great (just didn't have it framed right). Mounting the mount on the helmet is kind of annoying because you have to twist the velcro straps to get them to engage and hold right, it took me a while to figure this out.

Having used my FLIP camera many times, I wished for a way to take shots that using a tripod would not do. The Flip Action Mount for Flip Ultra and Mino Camcorders does the job. it was created to strap on the handlebars of a bike or motorcycle, so I thought it would work well on a fishing pole. In truth there is too much movement involved when you hook a fish, but I found it works well enough. I also tied with wire, not totally trusting velcro to hold over water. It was so exciting to be able to watch this video and share with friends. The Flip Video Camcorder is just AWESOME! And the Action Mount is a great accessory.

This item works good but only if you have a flat handle bars. Not a good item to use if you have bars that curve...

the Velcro straps and instructions are close to worthless. If you spend the time to change the the straps to some much stronger gripping Velcro the mount will be ok for some applications. the octopus type mini tripods work much better than this action mount. i ended up using electrical tape to hold it on my handle bars. i think some of the reviews are for the flip camera here, which is fine, the action mount, save your money or be prepared to modify it..

The utility of the Flip Action Mount is quite limited. I believe the product should be renamed to the Flip Handle Bar Mount because that seems to best express its function. I have had mine for several weeks and have yet to find an alternative configuration for the mount. Perhaps Flip should publish a webpage for user reported uses of the mount since Flip only shows the handlebar use in its materials. I would not buy this unless you believe you have a purpose for it which you can discern from the photos available or if you like to ride your bike while filming.
