Great lack of flavor, great lack of clumpiness
I bought this BCAA powder to help with my workouts, but now it mostly just works out how to get into everything I drink. Coffee? Amino acids. Water? Amino acids. Emotional support beverage? Also amino acids. The best part: it’s unflavored. Which means it tastes like absolutely nothing… just like my dance moves at the gym. I mix it in and it disappears faster than my motivation on leg day. No weird aftertaste, no chalky nonsense — just smooth dissolving goodness. After a few weeks, my muscles recovered faster and my soreness said, “BCAA later!” (Yes, I hate myself too.) Five stars. Because gains are great, and this powder really amino-s up to expectations.

An actually great supplement for muscle recovery and overall soreness from exercise
A trainer told me about BCAA's after years of regular exercising and I was skeptical but tried it. I was amazed at how night and day the difference was with my muscle soreness was and at how much it aided my gains right away. I've tried brands that try to mix a bunch of other junk with it, but really it's just not necessary and doesn't improve the effectiveness. The 2:1:1 ratio specifically works the best from what I've tried and I've found the simple powder is the best for mixing into simple preworkout shake of caffeine and beta beta alanine mix. Not the greatest taste but easy enough to chug down in water or a little flavoring. Keep in mind that timing of when you consume it is absolutely key to it's effectiveness -- Before or during workouts, but not after. There are a lot of junk workout supplements out there that don't do anything, but this is one of the only ones I'd say is absolutely crucial for helping muscles recover for weight lifting or resistance training, you won't regret trying it.

why bitter is so varied in reviews, for everything bitter.
Definitely not knocking the product. Was confused about the bitter taste. Did some checking. Turns out 25% of the population (like me) are 'Super Tasters" or very sensitive to bitter. 50% are so-so "Tasters" and 25% "Non-Tasters". Can't say for bottom 75% but if you are also a super taster-lol, you won't like the taste.

WORST TASTE EVER!
I absolutely love Nutricost product, almost ALL my supplements come from there but this unflavored BCAA is the absolute WORST taste I have ever had in my mouth. There's no possible way my wife or myself can drink this. I would want to try a flavored one possibly but after this it scares me that I would be wasting my money on it.

Simple, Quality BCAAs Without the Nonsense
I waited several weeks to give a review, so that it was more useful than simply a review on the taste. This is the best value I’ve ever seen for BCAAs. My training intensity has improved similarly to how it does with creatine supplementation. There’s been a visible improvement in my overall body comp (mind you, I train 4-6 days a week and my diet is somewhat “clean”). So, clearly an effective supplement. The taste is horrible, which is a good sign, since no quality bcaa supp is going to taste good! I’ve watched videos comparing the difference between quality bcaa powders’ mixability and ones that are filled with garbage, and I believe this is “up to snuff.” I got the unflavored one because I wanted it as simple as possible and with the least amount of unnecessary ingredients possible. The ingredients are just bcaas; nothing more! But don’t think for a second that you can comfortably drink this without mixing it lol(and I’ve consumed all types of herbal supplements that would make the average person projectile vomit at the mere smell of them haha). I use True Lemon packets; fewest sugars and fewest ingredients and it ends up tasting about as good as a powder that’s twice as costly. $21 for 90 servings with the ideal 2:1:1 ratio is such tremendous value that I hardly see a point buying BCAAs anywhere else, and will order again, possibly forever 👍

A BCAA worth trying!
I'm glad I found this one. I use it in my post-workout shake and can literally feel the effects of recovery it has. If I could afford to order more frequently, I would take it with my pre-workout shake as well for energy production. I don't see any drawbacks as far as the taste since mine is unflavored but I don't even taste it in my protein shake. Over all, I like what Nutricost does with supplements as far as diversity and affordability.

This tastes terrible, but I love it.
If you have a weak stomach, unflavored is not for you. If you want to recover better after an intense workout, avoid a lot of sugar, and do it for a price that can't be beat, you need to buy this. I used to workout without supplements. I did a lot of different things: cycling, weight training, running, HIIT, boxing--really, anything intense, hard, or painful to keep in shape. After a while I started incorporating supplements to get better results and push my gains. Protein shakes, creatine, caffeine, and finally BCAA's. Each of those added a little more relief or better prep for my workouts. None of them made me feel as ready for my next workout as BCAA's though. Really, this stuff is gross. It smells bad, it tastes bad, and it doesn't mix super well. But at this point, I'm not working out without it. My recovery time has gotten so much better; the intensity is getting better; I feel like I have more energy before, during and after; and I just can't stress how much better my muscles feel the day after a workout now. The price is good, the packaging is simple, the product is fantastic. No nonsense supplement for no nonsense workouts.

Too hard to open
This does dissolve fairly easily. It smells awful and tastes unpleasant. I end up mixing with a small amount of cold coffee and just shooting it. The reason I’m not buying it anymore is because I find it nearly impossible to open the container when it first arrives. The seal is oversized and causes the lid to almost lock in place. I have smaller hands and used every lid opening trick and gadget available. The first time I thought maybe it was a fluke, but it’s the same thing with the new jar and I just can’t. I’m bummed because there aren’t a lot of options for BCAAs that don’t have a flavor and artificial sweetener in it.
