The Barnyard Designs Ceramic website states this utensil crock is "food safe". I did not find any additional info regarding whether the product is "lead free", but don't think they could indicate food safe if there was lead in the product. Like other individuals who purchased this product, we really like it.

I see in the pictures wooden spoons and larger sized utensils, but can this be used for just silverware? Is it too large fur just a few forks/spoons?

I think it would be too tall abs large for tableware.
