Cathedrals: Masterpieces of Architecture, Feats of Engineering, Icons of Faith

After seeing several PBS programs on European cathedrals, I wanted to learn more about how architects and masons in the first and second millinea were able to construct such incredibly complex, tall structures without modern equipment. This book doesn't provide that insight, which was a disappointment. Other than that, the cultural histories of each featured cathedral are extremely interesting.

Who is to blame for this nonsense, methinks not amazon? Jenkins' "Cathedrals" and "Europe's 100 Best Cathedrals" appear to be the same book? Completely? Pls advise. Very confusing, and unnecessarily misleading?

I love how Mr. Jenkins examines various churches and points out fascinating details you probably wouldn't see on your own or on a tour. Much humor and insight. Great Read!

The one-star is not for the book, the book is excellent. I know this because I had bought it 2 months prior to this one, under a different name (Europe's Top 100 Cathedrals). The fact that I then spent an even higher price on the same bloody book is shocking - Amazon provided misleading information in the descriptions, it's basically the US Version of the same book. Shame on you, more fool me.
