It helps to align stamps and the metal trim is perfect when trimming material, especially when I use an Xacto or Fiskars knife. Good purchase. Review: Item returned - This Item arrived several days later than anticipated with several mailing labels on the package. Purchased attributes of "metal edging" , "see through" alignment and "solid construction" was questioned. The metal edging was thinner than expected, therefore, nicks were visible as well as partial creases. The metal strip length along the inside edge: by design or otherwise was not long enough and a bit askew in its attachment. The (clear poly) seemed sturdy and well marked (however only accurate if the metal edge is without flaw). Further, the product looked as though it had several areas of glue on it and a few areas that were indicative of impact marks. Imagining this could have been "the Lemon that slipped through". An exchange was desired. The option of accurate measure and easy application of "layers" was a specific goal. Especially after seeing the video of product function and use on You Tube. However, this was not an option for this product as the price had increased from the time of the original purchase order.

Kool Tak Layer Plus Tool- useful but…….
The “steel reinforced edges” are extremely sharp and is slightly short. It does not cover the entire ruler edges, from end to end. On one end, the steel strip was not attached for approximately one inch and it appears some kind of double stick adhesive is being used to hold the steel strip down, which is not strong enough to keep it attached. Since I don’t plan to cut anything with this ruler, I removed the steel strips!

You Might Like It
IF you are looking for a tool that will aid you in aligning layers of paper for a card front or scrapbook page, this tool may just be for you. I always have problems with alignment, plus I have RA, and my hands are affected and they tremble sometimes. While this is costly, it is helpful to me. I appreciate that it as 1/8" increments on it for extra good precision. It's transparency is crystal clear. I am giving it a 4-star rating because I am still learning to use it and get comfortable with it. Also, the 4 stars is because I reached over to pick it up off my desk, and the metal that lines the outside slit my finger clear open and I had to have stitches. No fun. So, now I have learned to be very careful when handling it. I have yet to write a letter to the company and complain about the sharp metal. There really is no reason for the edge to be that sharp. It could easily be metal-polished to become smoother and still maintain a good edge on the tool.

PIECE OF JUNK!!!
As far as the STEEL REINFORCED EDGE....HA!! See the photos attached....Three photos show the following: One edge is not even attached to the ruler.... It is bubbled out on the outer corner where it wraps around ..... Steel does not go to the edge in THREE places on the ruler.....It is nice and thick and clearly marked, but they need to find a better design for the reinforced edge. I wouldn't waste my money on this...You will definitely get WONKY, UNSQUARE cuts...
