BOOYAH Pad Crasher Topwater Bass Fishing Hollow Body Frog Lure with Weedless Hooks

Tried the lure stock and kept getting missed strikes.This was frustrating and after a few simple modifications the lure Is a winner.1) Trim the skirt down to two inches. (Why?) Because the skirt is too long and the fish strikes the skirt not the body.2) Add a few stripes on the belly of the frog with a sharpie here and there to match the hatch. (Why?) It gives the frog a more realistic look.3) Bend both hooks slight upwards (1-2mm) away from the body of the frog. (Why?) The stock positioning of the hooks is too horizontal to the body of the frog. When the fish strikes the body of the frog. The fish realizes that it’s not real and immediately spits the frog out and the hooks don’t catch the top of its mouth. By bending them slightly upwards, they catch the roof of its mouth and the fish is on. * Note, this also slight increase the lure getting caught up in heavy weed, so be mindful if this and use a heavier line or braid line.

I ordered this after watching my friend pulling bass out of a lily pad with the green one. I ordered a green one and a white one. I tried the white one today, and my second cast right when it hit the water a very large northern pike snatched it. Got him all the way to the boat before he bit through my line. Needless to say I’m ordering 2 more white ones.Great frog. Pulls across Lily’s and weeds effortlessly. Can basically cast it anywhere.

I've been a dedicated bass fisherman for years but this is the first year I've really gotten into frog fishing. I now have about a dozen different frogs but I have to say this has got to be close to my favorite. The white color seems to be a favorite of the bass and the action of this Pad Crasher can't be beat. I cut the skirts about an inch shorter to cut down on short strikes and that helped a lot. The hooks are nice and tight against the body and don't get caught up in the weeds but the hollow body gives nicely when the bass hit and I always get great hook penetration. I couldn't ask for a better frog for the thick weedy areas of the lakes I fish. I highly recommend this frog.

The white and black in 1/2 oz are deadly when cast up into leaves, debris, and lily pads, under overhanging trees, and a cut out of the land. However, the white is surprisingly effective in open water, on a cloudy day, with warm water. I usually cast and return quickly twice in a patch of open water, then cast and let him set for up to 5 seconds, then lightly twitch twice quickly, pause for a second, and give him a stiff twitch. The bass will come out of the water and attack from above the bait. Not 100%, but quite respectable.

I took this out fishing in a little pond that's clogged with weeds, and within an hours time had caught 3 good size small mouth bass, and it never got caught in the weeds, which is what I wanted. This is a excellent Lure made for some exciting fishing as the Bass attack it on the surface of the lily pads, Its just a little hard pulling the Fish in through the weeds. Lol

18" 4 1/2 lbs (guess), threw this in the muck and pulled my PB out.

I like this a lot. Had great action, gets plenty of attention from fish, though it takes a second to figure out when to set the hook with the upward facing hooks, but my only complaint is that it fills with water after a few casts. I kept having to squeeze the lure to get the water out because it kept going below the water line. That really ruins the action of the frog and doesn't let you get as many casts out as you'd like. This is my first time using a frog so I'm not sure if that's normal, but it seems like a bad design to constantly fill up with water for something that's supposed to float on top.

I like this frog and am giving it 5 stars because it's a good quality frog for the price. As we all know frogs are super expensive so this ones a decent price range for what you get.
