⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Factory Fit, Solid Build – Zero Complaints After 6 Months
I bought the Gledewen tailgate handle for my wife’s 2003 Chevy Avalanche, and it fit absolutely perfect—like it was OEM. Installation was a breeze: no modifications, no hardware swaps, no thread cleaning—just pop it in and go. The handle feels strong and sturdy, not cheap or hollow. Side-by-side with the original, you really can’t tell the difference. Even with your eyes closed, it feels factory. Latch and locking mechanism work flawlessly—no sticking, no jamming, no play. I’ve had it on for about six months now, and it hasn’t missed a beat. No worn clips, no loose rods, no issues at all. For the price, it’s absolutely a steal. If you need a tailgate handle for your Avalanche, this is the one to get. ⸻ ✅ Pros: • Perfect OEM fit—zero install issues • Feels solid and well-built • Works just like factory latch and lock • Great long-term durability • Excellent value for the price ❌ Cons: • None whatsoever after months of daily use

Works, but check the model list carefully!
So, I wrote this review and just before I submitted it I went to double check something. I updated my review based on what I found, originally I was going to give this 3 stars. However, the listing is clear if you actually read it (which I didn't). This doesn't fit a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71. So that's my fault. Read on though, because it'll actually work just fine. I think the difference must be the thread on the three bolts that mount the handle's plate because everything else seems identical to my old handle. Original review: I got this to replace my broken handle on a 2004 Chevy Avalanche 1500 Z71. Replacement should have been very simple. Remove two bolts for the plastic cover, remove three bolts for the old handle. Unclip the rods that go to the releases and put it all back in reverse order. Things went wrong when I went to put the new handle in and tighten the three bolts for the new handle. This handle doesn't come with new bolts so I had to reuse the original bolts, which is what I expected. What I didn't expect was for the bolts not to fit. They started threading but got very tight within about a 1/2 turn. At first I thought I cross-threaded the bolt so I took it out and tried again. No luck. I tried another bolt, same thing. So I took the handle out and tried the bolts with the handle out of the car. I immediately saw that the threads on the handle were not quite right. I thought maybe paint was the issue. I tried wrenching the bolt down a little, handle still out of the truck. It quickly became apparent it wasn't paint. At this point I got out my thread cleaning kit. I found the right size cleaner and spent about 10 minutes cleaning out the threads on all three holes. After that the installation was easy. If this were a stressed part I'd be worried because I took a fair bit of metal out of the threads but it's a mounting plate. Besides, the stupid GM design of the plastic clips to hold the release rods means the whole thing is going to fail again in a few years. So, in the end this worked, but you might need a thread cleaning or tap-and-die set to make it work if you have a 2004 Avalanche 1500 Z71. Either that or new bolts.

Works perfect and like oem!

does the job
Works OK but had to adjust the mechanism once bolted in. The bad part was one of the rod clips broke immediately and to salvage one out of the original.

It works, it's cheap not oem quality, but it does the job

Would Recommend
It's been a couple years since I've bought it and it's worked in my 2004 Chevy Avalanche just fine.

I wish I could rate it a ZERO out of five.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. There are supposed to be 2 clips for this part, one was half missing. The mechanism that moves when the handle is lifted that pulls on the rods to unlock the gate DID NOT FUNCTION. THE MECHANISM DIDN'T EVEN MOVE WHEN THE HANDLE WAS LIFTED. JUNK!!!
