I bought this to use as a mantle shelf over a pellet stove, which vents out of a closed off window frame. The stove is in an awkward spot, it looked bare. It needed something homey...So, i decided i needed a mantle. Somehow.I ended up deciding upon this affordable shelf, in case we decide to move the stove and put back the window. And i could still use the shelf elsewhere.It looks and feels like wood, but doesnt weigh like wood. Its light.It is kinda textured as the paint on it is ‘aged’ to give a shabby chic look.I happened to like its greenish color, but i was outvoted and so i painted it white. I used a semi matte spray paint. I used a sponge to even out the paint. The paint did not stick to what looks like a silver metallic highlight on the edges of the cut outs, making it look mottled, which actually looks great on it- now it looks like i spent way more time and energy on it than i really did. I love this shelf.We just installed it, and it wont support very much weight, so my husband reinforced it with brackets, and i just put up some holiday decorations and stockings. I could now put up a heavy mantle clock.It looks like it has always been there!So i am very pleased with the mantle shelf, and now i will get back to finishing the project with some pilasters, and maybe a mirror of a sorts, etc etc. (pinterest here i come...!)I would recommend this shelf. It would be strong enough to hold photos and ornaments or candles, but not books, or anything heavy, unless you reinforce it.

I love everything about the shelf, but it was broken in several places. Very disappointed.

We painted it to match the colors in our guest bedroom and it looks great! No issues painting it, we used a spray on primer and then brushed the paint on. We didn't have any issues hanging it, except we didn't get it centered on the wall initially. Remember the old saying, "measure twice and cut once" it definitely applied here lol...

This rustic, faux antique shelf looks really nice. I especially appreciate the dimensions. It's both deep and wide enough that you can actually put some sizable objects on it, such as large picture frames, books, purses, or even small backpacks. Other shelves in this style are very shallow, so lack functionality. Make sure you use very strong anchors when you hang it. I used drywall anchors rated for about 120 lbs.I do have one problem, that dropped it to 4 stars. The picture and description on Amazon do not accurately describe the color. The FRONT of the shelf is silver/white, but the top and sides are GREEN! And it's like a mossy swamp green, which is not very appealing. The image on Amazon makes it seem like it would match the popular farmhouse rustic white color alot of home decor products on Amazon have, but it does not! I easily fixed this problem with a can of white spray paint I already had in my garage. A quick coat on the top and sides and it was "rustic farmhouse" again! Just be advised, that you may want to do the same.

The media could not be loaded. Finally got my new couches and was ready to hang my mantle and it’s broken 😩I mean it’s beautiful but this is the second one first they sent me the wrong color and they replace it but now thisI’m just sad 😔

These shelves are exactly what I was looking for to use as cornices for my bedroom windows. The top and sides are definitely green but the front scrollwork is gray and matches my bedroom perfectly. You can’t see the tops at all and the green sides actually add interest. They are not well put together. We had to tack a few nails into the sides to make them sturdier. I’m so happy I took a chance on these. Just have to spackle and paint a couple of spots where the old curtain rods were and voila! A whole new look for cheap!

As everyone has said- the color is not as described or as it appears in pictures. It’s actually pretty dark. Dark green sides and taupe on the front. Colors are disappointing but knew that might be the case when I ordered it. So, while I don’t like the color, I do like the design and architectural feel it brings. So... I painted the sides to match my decor. Left the front as is because I worried that I couldn’t get that shabby chic look I was looking for. For the money it’s ok. Just know the color is not what’s described.
