Upon receiving these new latches. I noticed they were well made with heavy brackets pin and spring. Definitely a sturdy latch. However, they state in their product ad that the latches are stainless steel. Although nothing about an actual stainless steel grade eg…304-308-316 grade of stainless steel in mentioned. Although they look stainless, after using a magnet to test. The magnet did stick to the latches, therefore imo, they do not contain a lot of nickel or chromium. So this latch and will likely rust over time if exposed to the elements.

I didn't realize how big these were and almost didn't use them. All my others are 3/8" and not 1/2". Plan accordingly. With that said, I will be using these exclusively going forward. Heavy Duty indeed. Solid, no wobble. Made some aluminum guide plates to help keep them from rounding out the ply and upper 2x. The picture is of the upper installed.
