I wish it had been invented back in the 80s, when some of us had to work so hard to achieve big hair. I spent hours, I kid you not, washing, blow drying upside-down, then scrunching and pinning my hair up and leaving it that way until seconds before I walked out the door, only to have it flatten out after an hour or two. Hairspray would only make it last a little bit longer, but that of course had its own drawbacks. With the Voloom, I would have been able to achieve Rock-n-Roll hair in five minutes flat! Too bad all that big hair is no longer in style (haha), but some of us definitely still need help getting a little volume. This product has been so easy to use and has given me such wonderful results that really last until I wash my hair again. I don't have too much time and patience anymore, but the Voloom heats up quickly and it doesn't take a long time to do. It literally takes me about five minutes to create great volume with this thing. My hair is baby fine and I don't have a lot of it, but the Voloom makes my hair look full and fluffy. It even makes ponytails and up-dos look better, because the hair isn't stuck flat against my scalp. Some reviewers are saying that they get a very defined waffle iron looking marks when they use this. I think that means either the temperature is too high or they are clamping the hair down for too long. I watched several tutorials on youtube and some of these girls clamp the hair down for way too long. The instructions say that it's just a second, then release. I started out with the temperature at the lowest setting and slowly increased, but I found that I get amazing volume with the temperature at just 230 degrees, so that's what I use to avoid heat damage. Maybe it's because my hair is so fine, but that's all I need. (aren't we all using this because our hair is too fine/thin?) I clamp the Voloom down on my hair for a second, then release and move to the next spot. This way, the treated hair looks kind of like it was teased, not crimped or waffle-iron textured. Then the treated hair gets covered with the top layer of hair, so you can't see it. If you follow the instructions, there's no reason why there should be any visible marks. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but now I love it and believe that it is worth every penny! Review: Just arrived—where have you been all my life?! Love it!! - Just arrived—where have you been all my life?! Love it!! I pulled mine out of the box and plugged it in to give it a first try today when it arrived in the mail. It heats up very fast. When they say to hold this device in your hair for one second at a time they really mean it! I lifted the top of my hair and sectioned it so it would lie on top of my treated hair. That was super easy with the clips that are provided. It took less than five minutes to do my hair. Then I unclipped the smooth parts. I was amazed at just how well my hair responded. I have a fullness I never knew I could experience. I have a fine hair that is about 2 inches below shoulder length. I love everything about this product and can’t wait to use it again and again. It is a little pricey but considering my hair now has volume instead of lying flat against my head I am one happy customer. Edit— I woke up the next day and my hair still had volume and looked great.

Where has this been all my life?
This product is truly life-changing. I wish it had been invented back in the 80s, when some of us had to work so hard to achieve big hair. Great for fine, straight hair
I was a little reluctant to try this because of the cost, but Amazon's easy return policy made me decide to check it out. So glad I did! I have fine, straight hair. Within an hour after blow-drying, it's usually limp. Rollers sometimes work, but they're a pain to use. The Voloom works as promised -- it's quick, easy to use, and the volume holds even overnight. I had a few questions about technique that I asked on the company's Facebook page and received prompt, complete answers. It took a couple of days of experimenting to get the temperature right and to get efficient at placing the clips to keep the top section and the treated sections out of the way, but now it takes me less than five minutes and my hair looks great.

Works great! Quick fix! natural! but expensive, and really benefits from volume product
I really do love this thing, don't get me wrong. It doesn't seem to do much damage to your hair at all. For hair as fine and thin as mine, though, you very well might have to wash your hair the next day, even though many people don't have to. I don't care what anyone says, I'm not a fan of dry shampoo. The ends of my hair look a little fried even though I don't dye my hair or style it very much, so I do have to use heat protect, which I think hurts the actual volume when you get down to it (but many people are better at keeping it towards the ends than I am). It also does take a little practice (not a ton), just watch the many youtube videos out there for help. But, when your hair is super fine/ thin, the layer you have to leave to cover the crimped parts makes your head look a little square. You gotta play around with this. I test an inch, brush it over, and go closer to the part if I can. I also put in ion volume spray before I blow dried a little for extra oomph. I think that without it, this product isn't as amazing as everyone says, but it does make quite a difference. I absolutely love how voluminous this makes my hair, it just takes a bit of trial and error. Another thing is that putting the heat up a bit really does make a difference, so test up from 300 degrees. Going back in real quick a few hours after you initially do you hair helps a ton, but it's not needed. I would say that If you're going for a sleek look, flat iron AND THEN Voloom, and touch up with the flat iron after. But, if you're going to curl, Voloom first, then curl. This product heats up incredibly fast, but does NOT cool down quickly. You can't close it while it's hot, so be weary if you have kids or have a messy bathroom. The little heat resistant bag is nice, but if you pack it away hot, you might make the iron last less than it could. I am weary about the price, since some people say this iron doesn't tend to last long. If you're on a budget, try a mini crimper and just spend more time on your hair, and use products (carefully). My hair is personally too thin to hide the lines, though I've tried. I also tend to be in a mass panic while getting ready and don't have the time. If you're treating yourself (or gifting a beautiful woman who just needs some volume), this is an incredible tool, its a VERY quick addition to your routine, and it boosts self-esteem.
