I bought this to replace my old Microplane box grater which had finally broken after years of use. This new one has sturdier feet, more features than before, my favorite being the fine shredder blade that is removeable so the tool is a lot easier to clean along with the very sharp grater blades. An outstanding tool!

Magnificent tool. Expensive but every bit worth the money. I grate/shred almost every day or at least three times a week. Cheese, root vegetables, roots (ginger/turmeric, etc.) It is a beautiful tool, and I don't regret the money I paid for it. There is one caution I highly recommend. Use a safety glove; if you don't, you will regret it. Arrogantly, I failed one time and paid the price. Keep your fingers away from any part of the grater. Can I recommend this kitchen tool? Absolutely, if you grate/shred as much as I do.

This handheld cheese grater is a great kitchen tool! The sharp stainless steel blades make grating cheese, vegetables, and even zesting citrus quick and effortless. I have had this microplane for years and I am just getting a new one! I love it and it is easy to clean, as one side slides out. Great kitchen tool.

I had a prior version of this which I liked but it broke because the plastic handle failed. This one is metal and looks like it should hold up a lot better. Unlike the predecessor, one side detaches so you can get at the insides easily for cleaning. Works great like all Microplane stuff does at shredding, grating, etc...

I purchased this grater after my very old aluminum box grater broke. Before I purchased this grater I had bought two rotary hand graters; but due to developing arthritis in my hands could not maintain the grip pressure required to use them. I based my purchase on the positive reviews and agree with them but for one exception. The positive things that I really like about this grater are: 1. It is very sturdy and obviously well made. 2. The large handle makes it easy for me to control the grater with no hand pain. 3. The blades are very sharp! This makes it easy for me to grate bulk cheese quickly and easily. 4. The plastic shield makes it easy and safe to store. The one aspect about the grater that I was disappointed in was that there is no fine grate side to the grater. Since I cook many Italian dishes, I use Locatelli brand Romano cheese and am used to a fine grate. With the Microplane grater using the smallest grate side, the cheese comes out in thin one-half inch strips instead of a fine grate and I find that this alters the taste and texture of some Italian dishes. Other than this, it is a wonderful product and I am sure that it will last as long as my old aluminum grater did. I would purchase this grater again.

High quality brand - the brand I rely upon in my kitchen

Makes fantastic shredded cheese weather it's soft or hard. Very sharp! I wish all sides were removable or it were foldable. It's rather large for small kitchens.
