This did not work with my PC.
This didn't work for me on my new Beelink S2 mini PC. I returned it. I just purchased a regular Blue Ray player, HDMI.

Just Don't Buy
It's best if you move elsewhere. I bought this thinking that I could use it with my MacBook Pro (2012 and 2019). It worked great...the first time. I was able to put a BluRay disc in and a DVD disc, no problem. macOS recognized the drive and disc. I was able to play both without a hitch (you need other software to play BluRays on macOS). However, the a few weeks later I plugged the drive into my computer and it wouldn't recognize. I tried on another computer same problem. I tried ejecting the disc from the front button, would not work—I had to manually put a pin in the drive to pop it open. No matter what, I was unable to get the drive or disc to recognize on my system—didn't show up in Disk Utility or System Report.

It does what it should
This may be a bit early to review as I've only had it plugged in for about an hour, but eh.Installation is super easy. Just plug it in. Then you need software. The manual recommended PowerDVD, but you can find free or less expensive apps on the Microsoft Store (I went with Blu-Ray Player+ and DVD Player+. Yes, I had to get two because the Blu-Ray one doesn't play DVDs.)I was a bit concerned and confused for a time. If you go into the device properties of the player and find the region tab, it says it's setup for Region 2, which I think is Japan, Europe, etc. It bugged me, but I couldn't change it. There's some sort of lock on the region selection from the manufacturer. After banging my head against a wall trying to switch that, I said eff it, started the Blu-Ray app, threw in Transformers and let it play. To my relief, it played just fine, no issues. I've yet to try to burn anything, mainly because who burns CDs in the era of mp3 players on every single phone you can buy.Overall, I'm satisfied with this device. It's slim, portable, and functional. Definitely worth the price.

Convenient solution for modern PCs
With modern PCs rarely coming with disk readers anymore, old PC users like myself that liked to archive things on CD/DVD media still need a way to read our old disks, play CD music, and sometimes write to new blank disks. There are several portable disk readers and writers available to resolve this issue. This particular unit is very small and light and supports a current USB 3 interface (both type A and type C connectors) so it's a handy way to be able to give modern PCs a way to use that media. So far I've not had any issues; the player plugged in fine and was recognized by Windows 10 without any need to download drivers. I played music CDs, ripped a music CD, and read a photo disk. The drive isn't the fastest device but it was sufficient for my needs.Pros:- Supports both Type A and Type C connections.- The interface cable is integrated into the unit. This is convenient as you're less likely to misplace a cable.- Quiet- Plays CD, DVD, and Blu-Ray disks- Doesn't need an external power source, just runs off your PC's USB portCons:- Integrated interface cable is very short, just a couple inches. You'll have to keep the drive close to the device using it- No included software, but you should be able to find free utilities if you want to burn disks, and Windows comes with the ability to rip music disks built-inTips:- If you don't need to use Blu-ray disks, step down to just a regular DVD reader/writer. It'll save you a bunch as there are plenty of those external drives and they are about half the price of a Blu-ray version- This doesn't come with a carrying case. Some external drives do, so look around for other options if you plan to travel a lot with this and want something to help protect itI haven't tried the disk burning feature on this one yet, so I'll report back later if it warrants mention. Also, I've had disk readers burn out on me after a year or two of use, will report back if this one does the same thing.03-Apr-2023 update: a month after buying this, it stopped being recognized by my PC. I rebooted the system and also tried the DVD player on another PC and something seems to have broken on it. It was great for the first month. I have contacted the seller to see what can be done and will report back when either I resolve the issue or have to accept that I've lost my money.UPDATE: the seller came through and replaced the faulty unit. I also kept trying the old unit and found that if I didn't bend the cable out much, it could sometimes still work. This indicates a loose or poor connection between the USB cable and the unit. I don't know if that's a problem with all of the units or I just got lucky. So far the replacement is running fine but just as a precaution I've made sure not to stress the cable too much.

Works well as designed
Great external drive to read/rip blu-rays. Yes it doesn't read as fast as a standard DVD but its the same with all externals. Good value for the money. Note: the drive is set to region 2 (japan, europe) by default so it has problems with DVDs encoded for region 1 (USA). You just need to change this in the hardware settings one time for the drive and its fine.

It works!
I had to exchange mine, as the first one was not reading my Blu-rays. New one worked perfectly. I'm enjoying getting through my shows. The exchange was really easy. Amazon walked me through some basic troubleshooting but once we realized that wasn't the issue, they were quick to offer a refund or exchange.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯I don't know what else to tell you. Linux compatible? Yup. That's about the only thing you might otherwise want to know. Worked with Linux Mint 20 no problems

Doesn't read most of Blu Ray disc and DVD
I was using their recommended software (Power DVD) to play the disc, I tired for 10 Blu ray disc, only 2 of it can play, and it either said no disc or kept loading until I stopped it. I had tried DVD too, all DVD couldn't load which I can play without any problem of my old DVD drive. I am going to return this blu ray drive, totally waste my time.
