Like it!
My son enjoys this book. He likes that everything is in one book instead of the 5-6 books in the other Alfred’s beginning piano books.

Level 1A is the pared-down, secular version
I like it. It is black and white, no color pics. It has the same songs as Level 1A. So it's redundant, tho these songs have Christian lyrics. It also has some theory pages and extra solo pieces. If I would have known, I would have never bought Level 1A. This one has it all.I took a photo of the same song in each book. I hate Holloween so I was glad to see the "A Good Day" version.

Great piano book for young beginners!
I use this piano book to start my new students that I teach. I love how the theory pages are integrated into the book- it's easy to learn and review each skill! The pictures are cute and the songs are great for beginners. Children will recognize a few of the well-known tunes and enjoy playing "real songs". I like that many of the songs have lyrics about Bible stories or Bible truths. Overall, this is a perfect beginning piano book for children 5-8!

Pleasant systematic and affordable music curriculum
We have sampled a number of piano and music curricula and have been very pleased with these books. I am able to play basic piano and other instruments and this approach makes sense to me. The progression is set at a reasonable pace with colorful pleasant illustrations and uplifting songs. My learner was able to begin immediately and could sing along as he began playing. I like that they offer a Christian music focus option to their other general music course.

Not so sacred
The children are learning the basics they need to, but I don't like some of the "not-so-sacred" songs having someone's so-called religious words just put to an obviously secular tune. My children recognize these are not songs of great quality though, and know the lessons are just to get them the skills so they can play more beautiful pieces which actually do glorify God.
