Durable Locking Mailbox
Absolutely the best mailbox I have ever owned!I did my best to find loose screws, poor alignment, design flaws etc. The mail slot upper and lower guards that prevent mail theft are sturdy and positioned well but could be flexed. If you pushed hard enough, you might be able to deflect these guards enough to get a medium sized hand into the mail area (but you might get stuck too). I used J-B Weld 31310 Clear All-Purpose RTV Silicone Sealant and Adhesive - 3 oz. to glue down the left and right ends to anchor them a little better. The locks are not very precise so a little jiggling is sometimes required to get them to turn, but may get better as the locks are used. The plastic encased magnet that secures the top front door is not up to par with the rest of the mailbox, so i replaced it with a rare earth magnet , a 4-40 countersunk screw, nut, a couple of washers and some thread locker. It is made with rustproof aluminum except for the front upper door magnet/plate, front upper door handle screws, 6 rivets facing out on the front doors, 3 rivets facing out on the back door, flag stops and the lock lever/clip/screw (lock body appears to be non-magnetic stainless?). Everything that is magnetic has a nice thick powder coat of paint except for the interior lock hardware.I think the mailbox would be fine for most people just the way it comes, but I like like to overthink and overdo everything.I also ordered the Salsbury Industries 4365SLV Pedestal Bolt Mounted which comes with the hardware to mount the mailbox to the pedestal. I will pour a small slab with embedded bolts matching the pattern of the lower flange of the pedestal.Description from Salsbury Industries website:Made entirely of aluminum, Salsbury U.S.P.S. approved 4300 seriesroadside mailboxes feature both a front and rear access locking door.Available in a durable powder coated black, green, silver or white finish, each unit includes an outgoing mail tray, a lock with two (2) keys on eachdoor (keyed alike) and an adjustable red signal flag. Excellent quality mailbox at a good price.
Excellent quality mailbox. I studied mailboxes on walks throughout our neighborhood. I think we got the best box for a good price. This seems to be made of thicker sheet metal and is better painted than many of this style that I saw. The mailbox was also very well packaged. Most of the other mailboxes in our neighborhood are black and the paint is starting to look faded. I picked the silver color as our mailboxes are in the sun most of the day. The box stays cooler this way. I think the paint will last longer too because it will stay cooler. Also, if we happen to get a chocolate bar in the mail, it won't melt so quickly. I especially appreciated that the silver was ~40% cheaper than the black when I made the purchase.Opening from the back was a requirement for us and there are not very many mailboxes that do this. We live on a busy road and I am very happy to be off the road when opening the mailbox.Others mention the lock as a weakness and I am inclined to believe that the lock won't last as long as the box will. I figure I'll talk to a locksmith when that time comes and get a replacement lock that has a combination instead of a key. I looked and looked for this option and it was not yet available at prices that I was willing to pay.Mounting this box was difficult as we mounted it on an existing brick column. Our solution was to use bolts set in epoxy and cement to secure the box. The directions and the website did not prove helpful, but we had a smart contractor figure this out for us. The directions would work best if one purchased the mounting pole from the manufacturer and we did not want to do this.Even though the lock and mounting are causes for concern, we are very pleased with the end result. I looked and looked for the best solution available and I think I found it.

Exactly as described, works great.
Expensive, but worth it for us. Our local carrier is aggressive and casual; our Postmaster admits he has no control over the carriers. It has a large capacity - about a week for us (useful when you get the flu); she can't take mail out and throw it on the ground, and if she delivers someone else's mail to us, she can't blame it on someone else. Now if only we could get her to put packages in plastic before leaving them unsheltered in the rain....As a general complaint, may I add that the US Postal Service used to be so reliable you never had to give it a moments thought. But now ... !

Really decent mailbox
I was looking for a more secure mailbox that would safely hold my mail while I was out of town for a few days, and keep it dry from rain and snow. Build quality is very good and installation on my mailbox pedestal was simple. The mail carrier is pleased with this mailbox. It is the right size, not too big and the key locks work fine. I squirted some powdered graphite into the locks while I was doing the install and the key locks work very well. I am very happy with this mailbox. Two of my friends are going to order one for their place. Nice product.

Top Quality Super Nice Aluminum Mailbox.
Awesome product and amazing value! Local hardware store sells steel versions for the same price. Why get steel when you can get Aluminum that is WAY more corrosion resistant. This is a top quality item for a low price in my opinion, that doesn't happen very often!

Sturdy
It's the best-looking mailbox on the block. The lock is cheap and cranky. The key easily jams. (So far as I can tell, it wouldn't have been possible for the manufacturer to find a crummier lock. Yes, it technically works. But it's cranky.)The mailbox and post are sturdy. I know because a vandal went down our street with a baseball bat smashing mailboxes. Most of our neighbors had their mailboxes bashed to ruin. Our mailbox got a couple of dents but otherwise took the beating without harm. And it didn't break open. The thieves gave up and moved on down the street. When I moved, I bought the same mailbox for my new house.
