Mountains of Fire (Step-Into-Reading, Step 4): 9780679886419: Arnold, Eric: Books Review: My seven-year-old grandson loves this book - My grandson is a science fan and I buy him books all the time. Even though he’s in second grade, he reads at a fourth grade level. I am a retired teacher and I look for books that are interesting, have pictures and sometimes I want them to be a reference for later on since he reads so fast. He told me he really liked this book and stated some facts from the book. We followed up with making a little volcano with baking soda and vinegar. The book is small so he can put it on his bookshelf in his room. I will purchase more of these books because the price is right. Review: The book was amazing - The book was amazing. It taught me about volcanoes. It taught me about the volcano. In Hawaii and other volcanoes like that so when I grow up, I would want to be a volcano scientist that means you study volcanoes

I love the whole Step into Reading series
I love the whole Step into Reading series. The information is excellent and they are entertaining. The lower levels are long enough that a beginning reader gets a challenge but isn't overwhelmed with length. Level 4 is good for a confident reader, even if they still struggle with sounding words out. Reading comprehension really begins to get exercised at this level.

The best by far
No idea how many of these books we have, maybe 30 or 40. They are brilliant, we've used them since my son was two, with the toy story one, super heroes, tangled... The pictures are exactly as the movies and the stories are just right, not too complex, not boring. The more advanced are also fantastic, Lascaux, Trojan horse, the early American heritage stuff. This is the only series that I've found graduates from level to level consistently and realistically. Buy as many as you can and start them early, nothing comes close in kids reading... No I don't work for the company!

perfect choice for elementary school reading
I love these series. But most important that my son does. I order 20+ books and he loves to read them (usually it is not that easy to make him read). I got mix of 2-3-4 levels for the second grader, second level is too easy, but it creates some fun and he reads them with pleasure. Love it, I would recommend it.

Five Stars
These are great books for children learning to read and for children who don't like to read "long: books. Also these books have a ton of information in them that keep my children interested on reading to the next page. I find that my children will read these books over and over again.

Interesting story of what happened at Mount St. Helen. Well-written in a way that's engaging and intructive at the same time
