Love it

This is one of my favorite base colors for making cosplay armor, as it really does look like weathered metal. It has a nice consistency and good coverage even with a single coat, and it sands down nicely if there are any surface imperfections. The finish also makes it easy to add more colors on top, adding to its usefulness as a base layer.

The paint itself is fine and I didn’t have any problems with the can (dribbling, spotting, etc). The only thing I would say, and it’s not really a criticism, is that the color is definitely dark gray. The photos in the listing show a lamp base and a mailbox to demonstrate the color, but in my opinion, they both look brownish gray, almost sable. However, the color from the can is gunmetal gray, just like the can says, no brown whatsoever. So I guess it’s really the photos that I think are a bit misleading. That could be an issue with my computer monitor’s color settings, but I did buy another color from Rustoleum, and that color was identical to the photos in the listing. Anyway, one can almost covered one side of an old battered and rusty screen door (without the screen), so it took three cans to get the whole screen door done. Looks fine, and it really covered up the rust and scratches. After rescreening and replacing the handle, it will look very good, not new, but so much better than before. (A brand new screen door from Ace would have been more than twice as expensive once you add up the cost of three cans of spray paint, a rescreening kit, and a new door handle, so that’s cool, plus it’s a fun project and I’m enjoying doing the work myself!)
