I used this on a few test spots on my truck. Even after hand washing the surface was still somewhat gritty. After only a few passes the paint is glass smooth. In other words, when I do detail my entire truck it’s not going to be an all day event trying to get this to work. After words I recommend using a spray on ceramic coating or waxing to keep the surface like new. This is a great product and can’t wait to see my entire truck done which will save me hundreds having a detail shop for pretty much the same thing.

Fast, effective, and easy to use

I recently used the Mothers 17240 Speed Clay 2.0 on my car, and I have to say, it’s an absolute game-changer! The clay bar is so easy to use, and it quickly removed all the contaminants from my car’s paint. I was amazed at how smooth and shiny the surface looked after just one use. It’s also much faster than traditional clay bars, and it saved me a lot of time, which is always a plus. The design makes it super easy to hold, and the clay didn’t crumble or leave any residue behind. I paired it with the Mothers clay lube, which worked perfectly to keep the surface lubricated during the process.

Just remember that even though it's not clay, you still need to keep it CLEAN and lubricated (car wash soap/water is perfect). That means rinsing obsessively. ------------ Edit: After reading some of the negative reviews I felt a need to update this and add information. I think a lot of the problems noted by others are due to a couple of things. One, the claims made by the manufacturer are a little over-ambitious. Secondly, improper use and and misguided expectations from consumers. First, these do not always work as well as the real clay for removing heavier contaminants. These are meant to be used on relatively clean surfaces in order to maintain them. These are not good for trying to scrape off years of neglect. Use these if you care about your car and want to KEEP it clean. This is a product to use maybe every second or third hand wash to keep the surfaces clean. Use soap and water (CLEAN) for lubricant and rise very frequently. A very light touch is the right amount of pressure. If you find yourself scrubbing with this, you are doing it wrong. The device should glide freely with very light pressure. KEEP MOVING, don't stop (same as with regular clay). If you do it right and maintain your vehicles, this thing will save you a lot of money and effort over time since it can be re-used over and over, and it's fast. These are not a replacement for clay, they are simply a much more convenient and economical way to remove light contaminants for maintenance purposes. Not to mention, if you drop it, unlike clay, it can be simply rinsed off. If clay hits the ground, it has to go straight into the garbage (if you value your scratch-free clear coat).

I like to clay my cars: SAID NO ONE EVER! But, let's be honest. Claying a car is a necessary step to achieve great results prior to polishing and waxing (or applying a sealant). I have a clay bar collection, so I don't know why I even bought this, other than I hate claying my cars, and I had two cars that needed to be cleaned. Let me tell you, I will be claying my cars prior to every sealant application after using this Speed Clay. I mixed up some ONR Wash and Wax in a small handheld pump sprayer and used that as a lubricant. You can honestly clay your car in about 1/4 of the time as a traditional clay bar. Another big plus for me was that my hand didn't get tired or cramped up from having a death grip on my clay bar (yes I have dropped a clay bar before and had to toss it out, now I'm paranoid). If you drop this Speed Clay, just rinse it off. The handle on this is pretty ergonomic, and is easy to grip. I clayed two cars in one day and my hand wasn't sore. This clay bar did not mar or scratch my paint surface. This Speed Clay even removed some lingering rail dust "industrial contaminates" that were still present even after being treated with a chemical iron remover. I think that this product (and the ones like it) spell the end of traditional clay bars for the average enthusiast. I hate claying my cars, but I love them to look great, and this product delivered that.

Lasts many years. Makes a big difference if you do this with some suds in a bucket before your wax job. Will wax much easier and wax lasts longer regardless of wax brand.
