Fits Lenovo Legion Y545, Includes Tools (Plus Y545 installation guide)
Review: Perfect fit fans for Y545, a few hours in and they're running smoothly and silently. Here's hoping they last several years. It's nice they included the basic tools needed for installation*. *Bring your own thermal paste and cleaning supplies, see guide below for more info. My install took me maybe an hour, having done this all before. Landalanya branded replacement fan set for Lenovo Legion Y545 laptop (it lists others as compatible but that's what I used it for): Includes in a compact cardboard box: two fans (left and right have different layouts, these fit each slot correctly), along with a small screwdriver and plastic pry-tool for separating the laptop shell without damage - as well as some bubble wrap (not pictured). Instructions not included, which makes sense as this part is shared among several models of laptop. I ordered this because my original 6-year-old fans were making terrifying shrieking noises and violently shaking the desk, they would only occasionally spin in a laptop-cooling fashion. A brief description of installation on a Y545 will follow. 1. Check that your kit's label matches what you ordered then slit the tape and inspect contents. 1.1 MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ISOPROPYL, Q-TIPS /COTTON SWABS, THERMAL PASTE ON HAND. This is because removing the fans requires removing the heatsink, which will disturb the extant paste and reduce its effectiveness - plus it's probably old anyways. I've used one small dispenser of Arctic Silver Ceramique for like a decade with no issues - it's approaching empty, though. 1.2 BE SURE YOU WON'T ZAP THE PC. High humidity significantly reduces the odds of static shock, whereas dry, cold weather; carpets; layered clothing; certain fabrics like polyester fleece and wool - will increase the odds of static discharge. I haven't had any issue working on my Y545 but you've been warned; use appropriate precautions. Basically don't touch anything you don't need to. Better safe than sorry. Maybe run a hot shower nearby or wear less if you're concerned by this direction. 2. Take the small screwdriver and remove the case screws on bottom of laptop, many around perimeter and a few in center. KEEP THESE SAFE. It's handy if you have a magnet on hand to help extract the screws. 3. Using plastic tool, insert it between upper and lower case pieces around perimeter and slide along 3 sides; mine took two passes to undo all the snaps. There are at least a half dozen places where it clicks together so apply gentle pressure apart with your free hand as you go. If this seems difficult, make sure you didn't miss any screws. It should not require any force. Once unclipped, lift the fore part up and away from the hinge (the lower shell tucks into the hinge). Clean any dust or whatever that's built up on the lower shell air intakes. 4. Remove and save the plastic sheet that's adhered to the heatsink. Remove the 4 screws, 2 in each fan, pinning the heatsink and fans to the rest of the PC. SAVE THESE (separately from the case screws). Also unscrew the heatsink; its screws are permanently attached so just get them loose. Remove the heatsink - this shouldn't take much force, the only thing you're fighting is a few oz of metal and the thermal paste. It should come out separately from the fans. 5. With the heatsink off, unplug both of the old fans from the motherboard and clean any debris from the area. Remove the old fans; IDEALLY FIND A LOCAL PLACE THAT CAN RECYCLE THEM. Make sure anything (lint/dust/fur) stuck to the exhaust vents (radiator type things on heatsink) is cleaned up. Using cotton and isopropyl, remove old thermal paste from GPU + CPU contacts on both motherboard and heatsink. 6. Apply a bit of thermal paste on the cleaned chips. I put a "-" on long chips and a "x" on broad chips. No need to overdo it, it'll be squished flat in reassembly. Place the heatsink back into the hinge area first or it's hard to get into place - Keep heatsink elevated until fans are in place. Place the new fans where they go, they should both lock into place when correct. Then, lower the heatsink, set its mounting bumps with the fans, and screw it in. I alternate screws but it probably doesn't matter what sequence. Screw in the fans using the screws from before and plug in both wires. Reapply the plastic sheet, it should align with a bump on the heatsink if you look carefully. I put a couple pieces of painters tape on mine since it's lost some adhesion after several removals. Make sure everything is solid and you only have the case screws left. 7. Set the lower shell back into the hinge piece first, then press tight around the edges so it all clicks snugly back together. Reinstall the case screws. Longer screws are towards the rear and shorter towards the front. 8. You should be all done with no remaining screws. Turn the laptop right-side up, plug it back in and check that your new fans are running nice and smooth. pic1: Box it arrived in pic2: Contents minus bubble wrap pic3: New fans laid out prior to installation pic4: Cleaned CPU+GPU - Also clean the heatsink.

They Blow Air, May Require Slight Modification to Fit Well
While it required a slight modification to fit well, they're working well, seemingly just as well as the originals they replaced when they were newer. They have been installed for about a week, so far so good! Hard to recall if they're quieter than the originals given how loud the originals were since the one had a bad bearing, but probably about the same as they were before that. Given their price and the side cutters I have really available for the modification, I see no reason to dock a star. They're very close in size to the fans that came with my Lenovo Y545 Legion (the smaller one was exact, the larger one was very slightly wider and shorter). The fit was plenty fine for me though. Based on my research, there were at least three different heatsink setups for the one line as mine was a little different than the two I had previously found online, lucky me! My version had three plastic rivets that needs to be melted out in order to remove the old fans (no tabs to cut off like I had seen from most others) and the tabs on these new fans did not align with anything from my heatsink, so I snipped mine off to level it out for a tighter fit, including one "dot" instead of a tab. I used an old solder tip to melt them out. I'm not concerned that they did not reattach to the heatsink (which has its own screws) since the fans screw into the laptop in two spots and they fit in place nicely after those minor modifications, but wanted to note it for anyone with a similar setup. It was secure enough without any additional modification in my laptop at least, ymmv. One thing to help with the installation: I used some painters tape to hold the fans in place while I put my heatsink back in place. It saved me a lot of headaches given the angle it needed to be reinstalled. And don't forgot to remove the old thermal paste and apply some new stuff! Mine came like they were trying to glue the heatsink to the GPU & CPU; the cleanup took a while to complete, but installation was easy.

Good replacements for originals
Works great for my lenovo 1060y. Screws are perfectly aligned. 0 issues. Important to note that they do not include the covers on the top side. I was just able to use the covers from the original fans which fit perfectly.

Good replacement for my Legion Y545 fan!
Fits almost perfectly. Some slight differences in connecting back to the heatsink, but not an issue. To remove the original fan from the Y545 you have to scrape away some very small plastic bumpers from the fan housing connected to heatsink, so not sure what could be improved for this replacement given that it can fit several laptop designs. One could add a dot or two of heat resistant glue to more firmly reconnect the fan housing to the heatsink, but I just put all the screws back and all seemed well connected.
