GRATE MODLE AS ALL REVELL MODELS ARE

Good buy
It's better than expected for the money and no problem with assembly so far. Yes it's time consuming.

It is a well documented instruction manual
The ship is gluing up beautifully looking forward to putting the sails on

Not for beginners to modeling.
Great detail but lots of flash to clean up, not for beginners, fast delivery, no damage to package. Instructions could be a little more clearer especially for the rigging. Enjoying working on this.

Great model.
Great model and as good as all Revell models are. This was a fun build and the final product is wonderful.

Excellent for such an old kit.
With updated packaging, rigging line, and colored instructions, this is the same kit from 1959 I first built at age ten. Back then the molds were all new, but the kit has held up remarkably well for its age. Very little flash for a kit this old. Offered as level 4, I think that's a bit underrated. It has all the challenges of a level 5 kit, especially in the painting and assembly of lots OF VERY small piece, the warping of decks. etc. The new plastic used is fairly soft. It will require some skill to complete. By the way. There are always a number of people who are disappointed because plastic model kits require paint and glue. They invariably leave poor ratings. But this is only their own inexperience speaking. Look past all that and go ahead and enjoy a well-engineered kit, but so knowing what Revell's skill levels mean. This is not a first kit for anyone, no matter how long you've been building.

Challenging but FUN
Kit is OK, having to reshape warped parts, Sails are vac u-formed pieces of stark white-very thin plastic, probably going with thin linen for sails unless these can be washed and textured. I STRONGLY advise test fitting everything before assembly or painting, and its easier to assemble the hull and decks one deck at a time. I know this is a level 5 kit, but sometimes people don't look at the levels as skill advisors. Still working on this kit, and it will work out fine because I do love a challenge. I'm using Testors enamels since I don't live close to a decent hobby shop. I would recommend Humbroll because of color correctness, and paint-ability. (saves on mixing your own as well. With all this, I'm still having fun with it, and would purchase it again, if I wanted to do more plastic.
