Makes staying in a straight line way easier than I expected it to!!!

For my sewing, I saw that a laser light line works great. Maybe so, but not this one. It is not mentioned but the "HF" means Harbor Freight" and it is sold there for $4.47, vs. the $16.90 here. It is also not mentioned that it projects a 1/8-inch wide line which is too thick to aid sewing. (Both of these facts are on the packaging and not on the Amazon page). The on/off button on this light is real fussy and it only turns on and off when it wants to. The light itself is super bright and cannot be adjusted. It is too bright to use for my sewing. Maybe it is only good for circular saws like it shows on the package? Will be returning this!

Originally commented that although I liked the laser the much & it was highly recommended by another quilter, the adhesive wouldn't hold the device & it kept falling off my machine. Since the machine housing is plastic (like all of them these days), the screws and/or the magnet wouldn't work. However, we have now solved the adhesive problem by using a Command adhesive strip - the type used to hang a picture without damaging the wall. It works perfectly, so I am very happy with the laser! They are available in places like Walmart.

this is a wonderful tool. I had to tape it to my sewing machine but now I can sew long straight lines without drawing on the fabric or other extra labours. wonderful - I even got one for my friend!

I bought this after reading some quilting blogs about how wonderful it was in "Pointing out exactly where to stitch." Problem is, the laser beam is extremely WIDE and you couldn't be exact with it if you tried. I assumed from what I read that it would be a tiny, bright line that would help be more exact. I imagine it's a light 1/4 maybe even 3/8" wide which defeats the purpose. In all fairness, I didn't buy it for carpentry stuff, and it's probably quite suitable for that, but for me, it doesn't work for quilting!!

Perfect! I have attached this laser to my sewing machine using hook and loop tape. Now my machine has a red line displayed on my fabric as I feed the fabric under the presser foot. This laser line is a great sewing aid for sewing a straight line.
