I teach high school students, and I love these folk songs for beginner students. They are very easy to accompany while the student is singing, and the students enjoy singing the songs because they are pleasant songs.

I really enjoy this book! I am using it for music class, and it is super helpful. They are great songs for dropping your jaw and breathing exercises!

Love it but wish I could get the sccompament cd

This book provides clear lyrics and music but the CD containing the music is quite self-indulgent and showcases the pianists' chops rather than providing a basic framework for helping a singer learn and master the songs. The CD does not contain a version of the songs that includes the melody line. (If you listen to the CD without looking at the book I guarantee you will not be able to name some of the songs.) if you are unfamiliar with the song and aren't a great sight reader, you will struggle.

The cd is fine; this review is for the fact that I got the wrong cd. I had ordered a cd for medium high voice and when it arrived it was for high voice so did NOT match the music book that I had purchased.

I ordered a Medium Low book with accompaniment CD, and received a HIGH accompaniment CD!!! Very annoying, now do I send both back, or just the CD???? I noticed others had the same problem. What did you do???? Ordered this upon the advice of my voice teacher. She said the CD is a huge help. Won't be for me!!!

This is a wonderful book of songs with lovely tunes and very clever arrangements - hats off to Jay Althouse for another splendid compilation

While I can still use this book for teaching, I am disappointed that it came with water damage. I understand things happen and at least it’s in the upper corner and doesn’t really effect the overall image of the music. The pages were a little stuck together but nothing a little turning of the pages didn’t fix. 3 stars for the damage, but it’s a great book for teaching beginner voice students.
