It's an ok keyboard. I got this as a replacement for my j050us model and had it professionally installed in a repair shop. I'd give it a 4 star review if the spacebar worked as supposed, it doesn't work 100% of the times when pressed on the side. To make it work you have to press it very hard or on the center. Everything else works fine. The backlight works fine, and it's a nice touch. It's an just ok replacement, keep the spacebar issue in mind when shopping for this keyboard replacement. Update 2/23/2018: After a couple of weeks of use, i've realized that the arrow keys suffers from the same issue as the spacebar, keys are very clumpsy and have to be pressed very hard for them to work. For this reason i'm lowering the score to 1 star and no no longer consider this reeplacement a viable option. AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

Very happy! This keyboard has given new life to an old, oft-broken, oft-repaired HP Envy 17T touchscreen laptop. If I ignore the battered look of the rest of the laptop, it feels like a new computer again. On this particular model (17T-J100), the install is not for the faint of heart (see photos) but it's not hard at all if you just follow instructions in the service guide available from HP. Be aware, however, that the touchscreen panel does not need to be removed, and shouldn't be removed. The only tools are a couple of small phillips-head screwdrivers and a plastic pry tool. The keyboard feels as good as the original when new, and the back-light feature is a pleasant bonus.

I replaced a non-backlit keyboard that had several lousy keys with this part. The new keyboard works fine and I was happy to see it light up after the tedious replacement procedure. The backlight even switched on and off nicely with the designated key. Unfortunately, that didn't last long -- after several seconds, there was the unmistakable aroma of a resistor self-destructing. I quickly depowered the laptop, investigated the connections (another tedious disassembly/reassembly cycle...) and repowered the laptop. It lit up in one last time and hasn't lit up since. Apparently, the current supplied by the PWM'd signal was too much for the circuit at some brightness setting. Don't know whether to blame the laptop engineer, the keyboard engineer, or the installer... Not having the stomach to go through yet another disassembly/reassembly cycle to investigate/fix the problem, I've decided to be content with having a nice dark keyboard.

This keyboard was an exact replacement for my 17" HP Envy laptop. The backlight behind the keys is bright enough to see in daylight. All the mounting tabs aligned perfectly.
