I suffered with intermittent cruise control operation on 2005 Ford Focus. I drive 2 hours a day, mostly highway, and really need cruise control. My Cruise would set, then after I hit the brake pedal I couldn't get the cruise to set again, or would only work sometimes. Many miles down the road, after hitting several pot holes, I could get the cruise to set again, until I hit the brake pedal again. When you first install this new switch, the plunger is sticking out too far. When the pedal comes to rest the first time, it will push the plunger in a bit. There is a ratcheting noise as the plunger is set for the first time, and then it works perfectly everytime after that. I suspect, somehow the plunger on my old switch was pushed in one click to far, causing intermittent open circuit, making the cruise think I had my foot on the brake pedal.
