So far so good. Used it twice but will update if it fails in the future prematurely. So far, it works well. Best thing about this is that it has a light and BIG numbers to read. No guess work when timing track kids. lots of good functions comparable to other more expernsive timers. For the price, it is hard to beat. i serached thru many different models and this is the only one with all the functions you need in XC or Track & Field with a light, large numbers, and a good price point. Only negative is that it does not have an on/off button - you have to pull the battery every time to turn it off, which is rediculous (DRETEC, are you listening - fix this!). Also, they falsely advertised to say that its made in Japan, and it has a big "Made in China" sticker on it!! FIX this TOO. Don't lie to people, hoping it will sell more - make a good product, be proud of it and move on. People will buy it from good reviews if its worth it. Otherwise this is good to go so far.

I coach track. Sometimes it gets dark. I need a stopwatch I can see. This watch is cheaper than the ones I normally get (by about 1/2) but I think is laid out better and functions just as well. The beep is pleasant but not annoying. The click is sufficient to know you pressed the button successfully. The screen is easily read with large numbers. The stopwatch layout is perfect. You can see the running time. You can see the last split time (lap time) as well as the cumulative time for that split. You can see all of that without a pause in the current running time - which is very nice. The sound can easily be turned off and on. The backlight can easily be turned off and on. Hint: hit mode until you get to the time, then you can hit the start/stop button to turn the sound off/on (there is an icon that shows up); and you can hit the lap button to turn the backlight off/on (another icon shows up). Then navigate back to the stopwatch function.If have not used it in the rain but if it is indeed waterproof this may well be the perfect stopwatch, especially for the price, depending on longevity.Don't hesitate to buy this thing.

I give it a 5 stars but really it should be a 4.5 stars. The stopwatch is well built. It feels sturdy and the screen is actually glass, unlike other brands where the screen is just a plastic film that you can push in when touched.I like all the features, specially the counter, which most other stopwatches here on Amazon are missing. The only cons I have for this product is that the landyard or string it comes to hang around your neck is actually a shoe lace. I meant to contact the seller about this but I happened to have another one laying around and replaced it. Also the seller is a Japanese company and put a lot of good work on this product, from what I see upon unboxing it. Lastly this stopwatch uses common batteries that you can find anywhere even at the dollar tree for 4 pack for a dollar. I recommend this stopwatch to any sports person looking for a good stopwatch and all the other features this one comes with.

Worked when I received it. Used it a few times in the spring (May) & was just going to use it again in the Fall (Sept) and the reset button doesn't work any more. So it useless because I can't reset the timer. Don't know if I can get a replacement or not? Liked this one because I wanted the water resistance.

The functionality is excellent, but it's not 100% waterproof. Died after 3 months of casual use at the pool so I pulled the battery and after some "dry rice therapy" it works again with a fresh battery. Will update if anything goes south.

The box came in Japanese, but the instructions were in English. Everything is explained perfectly!Two notes, though…1. The mute/unmute function is toggled with the top right button, making it a bit easy to accidentally unmute at times. A switch may be a better solution in future products, but that may impact waterproofing. So… do what can be done!2. The screen’s viewing angle is a bit weird - it’s easy to read when looking directly at it or a bit below, but if its tilted up by just a millimeter, it begins to fade fast. If you need a particularly adaptable display, this timer may not be the best option, though it’s still a great choice!Other than these two considerations, it’s a great little device to have handy! Reasonably accurate. It works well as a stopwatch and the timer on it is great! Good large numbers and good beep noise when working the buttons also it can be silent for choice which I like. It has an alarm that I can set at any time day or night. And it's easy to read!forgot to mention the buttons can be operated even under running water just as advertised! The backlight is by the button where you would adjust the time. On the time and date mode you press the D button where you would adjust the time and after adjusting the time you push that button on it's left side. It's tricky but I found out by tinkering with it because it was on before I tested my ability to change the battery. That button is on the bottom where you turn quickly on and off the backlight. The same button you would use to cause adjustment of the time and date.
