AMES 238480NL NeverLeak Hose Cart with Guide, 250-Foot Capacity

Liked it so much we bought a second. Much better than Suncast. Assembly requires removal from box, folding up the handle, folding up the hose guide, and attaching hoses. Where's all the bags of small parts and undecipherable instructions?Update after two years, a downgrade: The metal used for the hose connections is incompatible with the brass used on most hoses. Went to change the hose, and it would not come off without cutting. Make sure you use a hose with plastic fittings to avoid this galvanic corrosion. The short piece of hose that comes with the device likewise has a brass fitting that threads onto the metal of the cart, and this is also frozen tight.

I bought this to replace one I have had for probably 15 years. This is one step above the one I had and I think it will do well for the light use I give it. The one I replaced did not have the hose guide and it gives a bit more stability. However I still think that if you are moving it around a lot you could have problems.The old one finally would not crank anymore and rewinding the hose became more and more difficult . It sat in a semi-shaded area but did get the full late afternoon Las Vegas sun and it held up well, however it was rarely moved. If you have to move these things around with 250' feet of hose on them I don't know how long they would actually last without breaking something.

It's as pictured but not very sturdy as another model we purchased earlier this year. However, as stated, it doesn't leak!

Good hose reel, no leaking.A little lighter weight than I expected. It tips over when I pull the hose out or reel the hose in. The little cup thing on the top is useless. Best feature: metal fittings so no leaking

Nice hose cart, but lightweight construction. Wheels don't turn freely. We'll see how it holds up!

The aluminum connector on this model should solve the defect of the fancy metal hose reel that it replace. The old one rusted out and ruined my deck. This one is pretty sturdy with 100 foot hose, but moves around when I pull the entire hose off. For the price it seems to be a good deal.

RIPOFF! Advertising is misleading. The cart is plastic, not aluminum as the product information would have you believe. Maybe some of the plumbing is aluminum, but nothing else. 225-foot capacity? No way! 100-foot is more like it. Neither the plastic crank nor the plastic wheels turn easily. Doubt this thing will last more than a season. There is a warranty, but you can bet it will require sending the thing back, and that won't be worth the cost and hassle of shipping. This is overpriced junk, and for the deceptive advertising I'll never buy Ames True Temper again. Shame on Amazon for promulgating this deceptive ripoff!I needed a hose reel and didn't want the bother of returning it, so I went ahead and used it anyway. Should have shopped in brick and mortar it seems. The crank slaps against the frame when reeling in hose. The foot step for holding down the cart while reeling is on the front, rather than the side, so your leg is in the way of the hose. When you roll it as a cart, the rear portion of the frame between the wheels is too low and catches on lawn. Works OK on flat hard surface such as driveway, but not an uneven surface. One good thing I can say is that the plumbing didn't leak (not yet anyway). But, as this is for outdoor use, I'd accept a few drips of water in place of the high price and the design problems.

This came assembled, right out of the box. I have a 100 foot hose, that I kept getting tired of trying to wrap up when I finished watering the lawn. With this cart, I just reel in the hose when I'm finished, and unreel it the next day when I'm ready to use it again. It's hard to fine this type of cart in the hardware stores. It is made of hard plastic, so I do recommend you treat it as an item to be careful with - it's not a toy!

I bought this Ames Tools 2384680NL NeverLeak Hose Cart Reel directly from Amazon as my current hose reel has seen its last summer. As this was purchased at the end of the summer season I didn't mind the shipping estimate of a month (actually arrived a week later, no big deal)The price from Amazon was excellent at $66 shipping included and I would definitely buy at this price again if needed. The cart came fully assembled and all one has to do after unpacking it from the ample bubble wrapping is to raise the handle and connect the leader hose. The leader hose even has washers in place. The BIG selling feature of this "NeverLeak" hose cart is the aluminum internals where you attach your leader hose and your main hose. The problem that I have had with every other hose reel is the Plastic leader hose attachment eventually pops out and will not stay in place because of the internal Plastic tube cracking. These parts are aluminium on this hose reel and the leader hose attachment is also held in place with screws which makes it much more sturdy. I will not be testing this unit until the comming summer, but everything looks in good condition with nothing broken. Apart from the internal water system the rest of the hose reel is all plastic and the wheels do not seem overly sturdy, but I don't see this as a huge issue since I usually only move the unit twice a year. The product is the same as the one shown in the photo.

Not as solid as the one I bought 5 years ago. Also doesn't have an automatic feeder bar. You need to move the feeder back and forth by hand on this model. Also more expensive than the auto-feeder more sturdy model I originally bought.
