Hello Baby!

Great diagrams
I love how well it explains the process of pregnancy and how baby grows in a way that is simple enough for kids to understand, especially in preparing to be a big sibling. My daughter and I loved this book so much after getting from the library that we had to have our own copy!

Amazing book for my 20 month old son
I bought this book for my son a few months before his sister was born. He was around a year and a half. I LOVED the illustrations in this book, and the way it was written from the perspective of the child made it very easy for my young son to understand. There were some pages that describe how a baby grows in the mom's belly etc. Those were a bit 'deep' for my son so I made up my own shorter version for those pages. I think this book is wonderful for a child from 18 mos - 7 or 8 years. Now that my daughter is here my son still likes reading the book, it really helped (and is still helping) him comprehend what is going on. I am SO glad we got this book!!!I wrote a complete review of the book on my blog:[...]We got several other books about new baby (I"m a big brother now, an OLD little golden book called "new baby" and "arthur's baby" but this was by FAR my favorite!)

Very cute book
We bought this book along with a baby doll for our daughter (2) as she will have a younger sister soon. She likes the book a lot and understands the concept from the book and uses them on her own doll. I think it is a perfectly good help to make little ones understand what is happening to mommy and what will happen when the new baby arrives.

Perfect preparation for a new sibling
I recently purchased this book for my 21 month old son (and only child). After reading all the reviews on several books, my hope was to find a product that would help introduce the concept of adding a new baby to our family. I wanted something that touched on both Mom's expanding waistline and what to expect after baby comes home.My son loves to read with me. He usually takes a while to warm up to new books, however this one caught on right away with him. We read it several times a day. I imagine that as others have stated, it'll be a favorite long after his sibling is born. There isn't anything I would criticize about this book (other than I was too cheap to buy the hard cover version and I'm not sure how long the paperback will last with all the use).I like the traditional family approach the author uses(mother, father, big brother and baby sister and grannie) and the mention of nursing (compared to books that state "baby needs a bottle"). In addition, the big brother plays an integral role in the care of the baby rather than taking a back seat after the new baby's introduction. As far as criticism I've seen of the detail of this book . . . We don't read all the details on the chart that shows baby's growth, but simply point out which picture most closely matches his sibling's current development. He grabs another pamphlet that details even more and goes through that when we get to this page. He enjoys showing Mom what his baby sister looks like. There are some pages that are kind of wordy (like the explanation of the baby growing in the womb and the umbilical cord). However, I think if this had been pared down, it would limit the audience the book reaches. I'd rather give my son too much detail (it's NOT graphic) than leave him questioning the lack of information (as an older child may do). This book teaches concepts I would've neglected to cover with him (such as the umbilical cord stump and soft spot on baby's head). I certainly wouldn't shy away from the book for younger audiences. As I mentioned, this book provides the detail that children need but doesn't provide too much graphic information. For example, it references "going to the hospital to help our baby be born" with no explanation of how baby's are born.I would highly recommend this book for both younger and older children.

Perfect for explaining pregnancy for the first time
Got this to “break the news” to my two year old—I think the content of this book is meant to cater to an older audience, like 4+ years, but this was better than any of the books I found that were targeted at toddlers, which were way too simple and focused a lot more on life when baby comes out but not about what is currently happening when mom is pregnant. Those kinds of books are probably helpful when getting close to giving birth, but when that date is 6+ months away, it’s way too abstract of a concept for toddlers. What was especially helpful were the illustrations visualizing how baby is inside mom and how it gets bigger over time. That really helped my kiddo understand what was happening in the moment, and provides something we can refer back to throughout the pregnancy to show how baby has grown.

Great content but damaged on arrival
I love the contents of this book especially that it actually shows baby in moms tummy and the way baby grows. Also a huge plus that it shows breastfeeding. My only complaint is that it arrived damaged. Normally it wouldn’t bother me if it was for myself BUT would have liked to get it in better condition to give it a fighting chance against my 3 years old son.

Wonderful book!!
This book really helped my 2 yo understand what was going on. It's very informative, not at all graphic like other reviews said. My little one especially liked the pics of how the baby grows. I showed him one of the very small pics and told him the story of why I call him bean, he asked to hear about it over and over. I highly recommend this book for expecting parents with very young children. Another book that was really great is "what baby needs"Here's a not entirely on topic tip if you have very young kids and are expecting AND planning on reusing some of the things from your older child: my 2 yo recognized some of the things we were getting ready for the baby, like blankets, stroller, bouncy chair... The first time he saw the baby in one of "his" blankets, he got a bit possessive. Why is the baby using my blanket? He asked. I told him, "well, it's not really your blanket, it's my blanket. And I let you use it and now I'm letting this baby use it." He only asked a few more times about things but I gave basically the same answer and 4 months in, no problems. Hope this helps! Congratulations!!

Hooray - a book with breast fed babies!
Addresses breast feeding .. so many mothers breast feed their new babies now and most books for kids all show bottle fed babies. This is finally a book that demonstrates the natural beauty of breast feeding, among many other new baby things that other books hesitate to approach. A great realistic book to help the older sibling understand what to expect.

A perfect mix of the emotional and the technical
I bought this in order to explain to my 2-year-old what has been happening to my body, and the new sibling who will soon be part of his life. This book does both -- it explains pregnancy itself simply and with clear pictures, and then it deals with some of the realities of daily life with a newborn. Some of the pregnancy info clearly goes over my son's head -- I imagine this book would be a very good choice if your child is 3 or 4 or 5 years old as well. A six-year-old could probably handle something more detailed. All in all, this seems like the most charming, most appropriate, and best illustrated of the many mama's pregnant picture books. Very pleased with this choice.

Ben fatto e utile
