Yay, it works!
Directions were simple and straightforward. In my first attempt, I was frustrated as I had power coming in as indicated by the light on the switch, but there was nothing coming out of the back end. I asked for a replacement unit and, after wiring it up, discovered it wasn't the generator that was faulty but the switch I bought from Autozone. After fixing that, my grass applicator works like a charm now. Thanks, Gary, for giving this inexperienced electrician the benefit of the doubt. =)

Purchased two, one worked, not the other
Nice packaging, nice enclosure with the screw holes. Nice touch of having the extra ground wire. The first device, I followed the instructions to test my 12 VDC power source and it was 12.25V, the limit said 12.5, so I was clear. I soldered a DC plugin and quickly tested the first device and it was excellent. Plenty of ions flying off and I could hear it and feel the air gushing from the tip. The second one did nothing......crickets. Same power.

mixed review
if I was reviewing costumer service it would be 5 stars. but I am not, I got my first one and it fired 3 power supplies back feeding into them then the unit died, I did get it to work off a 9V battery but it was sparking at the negative termanal this was before it finally totally died . I contacted the seller and he was very nice said he needed to contact his manufacturer. after a number of months of very pleasant back and forth he send me a new unit but said so not hook it up until he hears back from the manufacturer. so I now have a unit I cannot use in fear wrecking it and have not heard back from him in weeks.

Thought I needed a new one
I had bought the kit to make a static grass applicator which has one of these units in it. After burning out four different power supplies I thought it might be the Ion generator had gone bad, so I ordered a new one. After talking to the maker of the kits, he suggested I use a 9V battery. When I hooked up 8 AA batteries (12V) the static grass kit worked just fine. So I really didn't need to buy this one, guess I have a spare in the event I do need to replace the original.

It works, its easy to assemble an applicator, my static grass is standing up
Good instructions included, though I would like more information on appropriate power supply. That is available online though so it's no big deal. I compared what others used, chose one of my drawer dwelling old 12v DC output 2000ma wall warts that tested good at 12.2v +-.1 with a multimeter.

Awesome!
It works great, it is easy to create an electrostatic grass applicator. If you know electronics you can power the circuit with a backup battery or a current eliminator.
