Q: I have lost a great deal of weight due to illness and have no "padding" on my butt. Do you think this cushion would work for me?

This pad does have good padding but doesn't compress very much. I tried it on my easy chair and it was not comfortable there but it works well on my kitchen chair. If you have short legs you might have an issue with having your feet dangling due to the lack of compression. It is 3 inches high and only compresses to 2 inches under my 280 lbs.

Q: Is it memory foam all the way through, or is it a harder foam with a layer of memory foam on top?
