I am an avid Star Wars fan who just got a new car a few weeks ago, so naturally, I wanted to find some goods. I saw this and absolutely loved the idea. When it arrived, I went to put it on right away. It came with no instructions or tips/tricks on how to install, keeping it functional or how to clean. Not saying that I needed a manual, it was super easy to install, pretty common sense. I will say that the adhesive that came with the cover (3 extra adhesives, which was nice) was very difficult to get off. After a few trial runs, I found out it was easiest to take one of the backings off first, leave the other side on, put the adhesive onto the cover AND THEN put it on your dash around the button. Once I got it on, it looked amazing. I was absolutely obsessed with how cool it looked. The adhesive was also super strong and there’s no way that Hurricane Ian could’ve ripped it off. I was able to twist it open and close only a few times that day before it became harder and harder to twist. The gears got stuck every time not allowing to fully open or close when twisting. It got to the point where I took it off, tried putting WD40 on it, and worked it into the inner gears to see if this would keep it from getting stuck. It helped a little bit and I was able to get it to twist a little smoother for a day or so, but then it got back to the same struggles of having to manhandling it because it was stuck every time I went to open or close to push to start or off. I thought I would just deal with it and I left it on for about a week or so to give it a chance. Unfortunately, I was getting too annoyed and frustrated finagling with this every day multiple times a day, and I don’t have time to take it off, lube it up, and put it back on every day, not to mention it only comes with 4 adhesives so you would have to buy your own at that rate. So I decided to see if I could get a replacement. They did send me a replacement very quickly and I was hoping the first one I received was just defective. When I opened the replacement, not only did it have a visible brown rust spot on the front covering Vaders eye that the first did not have, but this one was even harder to twist. It wouldn’t open fully or close at all and I decided that I didn’t want to deal with it. I didn’t even put it on my dash because I knew what I went through with the 1st one. Like I said, I loved how good the cover looked when it was twisted closed showing the Darth Vader emblem over my push to start. But the reality is, I couldn’t even leave it closed during the 1 week that I left it on because it would get stuck every single time I tried to twist it open or close. I think that they really need to fix the internal workings and design so it doesn’t get caught. Once they fix the gears, everything would be perfect (besides the random rust spot on the emblem). But until then, I had to give 1 star.

When buying this, ensure that your start button is on a flat surface. In my car unfortunately, the layout is curved on one side, so the ring couldn't sit on it properly. But it's otherwise a great product and I highly recommend.

Fits right into the category of fun stuff I don't need as an adult!

This looks great and seems to be good quality metal construction. The adhesive is a bit of a pain in the but to remove the peel strip on. My trick was to first put the adhesive on the cover and let it sit over night. The i slowly separated the peel off backing (red strip). Moves very easy and in my opinion looks very cool when the light shines through the eyes.
