Thermostat doesn't turn off, temp well below 85F. Fan center is about 5 feet, thermostat mounted near bottom of the fan, off to the side a bit.

it happened to me too, the thermostats they are providing, are defective, or wrong for the product

Will this work with a non amtrak solar pannel as the power source?

Yes, If the panel has 16/14 gauge bullet connectors. If the panel has the MC4 Connectors the tip of the female connector will need to be trimmed down and might need to be wiggled and pushed a little but it will work.
