Norman Hall's Firefighter Exam Preparation Book

This book was super helpful in preparing for the FireTeam test. It includes all of the necessary information, with chapters relating to each section of the exam. It helps with general mechanical and logical reasoning, and has great practice tests and feedback on why a response may be preferred. Good to use in the months preceding your exam, but too dense to rush through in less than a few weeks.

Great book tons of information

Took the fire exam once (Hawaii) and passed with a 70% using other books. Nothing great. After this book, my scores shot up to mid 90's. Much harder than what you'll see on most tests, but the practice and activities that they have will definitely prepare you for whatever it is you come up against. I did put in about 2 months of studying using this book for about 30 minutes to an hour every few days. If you put in the time with this book you will see results. Would definitely recommend this book to someone looking to do well on a firefighter exam.

It was very informative but some of the test questions and study questions had the answers wrong. I'm not saying I'm an expert at all in this field. But one particular example is page 119 question 14. It was adding two decimals and then multiplying. If I recall anything in my math class it isnthat there is an order of operations. Which is something that isn't taken into account. My answer was different when I used order of operations. (Didn't even have an answer with the proper us of it) but doing it without the order I found the answer. So if you read this book with no outside knowledge prior, it's pretty great and has more information than you'll need for your test and covers a lot of bases. Overall I'm really appreciative of this book and it has taught me more than I expected.

This really helped me out on my written exam. If I gave myself more time to study, I would've probably got a higher score than I did on my exam, but with this aid I was able to answer almost everything with super confidence. Literally everything that is in this book WAS on the test! Literally. Even down to the math which I needed touching up on. Highly suggest this book.

First things first, it is a paper back book. From the outside it has good integrity and seems sturdy. I have seen a ton of great reviews and decided to try it out. It does have great information, and it is very easy to read and comprehend. It could be a little difficult to keep up with the book if you have zero fire experience. I have not finished the book quite yet. Although it is easy to read and provides good information, it isn’t as detailed as I like. I am looking to take my firefighter exam soon, and I don’t feel as if it prepares you adequately. I will have to leave another review after I take my test! I wish that the book had more pictures, as I am a visual learner.

Quality book for the price

Excellent prep tool. I had minimal time to prepare for my exam and this helped me focus on the things I needed help with. I passed my exam and would recommend this book

Very helpful in preparing for testing - I bought this book to study prior to attending Texas A&M Fire Recruit Training Academy and I learned a lot! Arrived in good time as well!

Great resource...the math examples should include additional steps for the algebra operations. Recommended.

Must have study guide, this helped me out a lot prior to my first and only written exam. 100% helped me get the job.
