Update on original review: I've been using this sand spike for a while and really like it. Very easy to push in the beach and sets well. Has held up with no issues. I have one that is custom built and this works just as well. Original review: Easy assembly. Good quality, well built and seems it will hold up well.

Extremely sturdy and easy to put into the sand. Just rock it back and forth with one hand putting downward pressure and in about 10 seconds it is set. I did it frequently with one hand while holding my fishing rod in my other hand. The bait box is handy to store bait, fishing pliers, extra weights, etc…. The two piece design is very handy as the shorter sections makes it easier for transportation in the car. Even with waves crashing against the rod holder, it never moved in the slightest.

I was really excited when I found this sand spike and even measured my surf rod handle to ensure it would fit perfectly before I ordered the new 2024 version. Well description shows 28.5" long rod tube and matches by rod handle of 28.5" so I thought this is perfect! Well only about 24.75" inches of rod fit down the tube until it runs into the bolt used to attach the rod tube to spike, you cannot use the entire length of the 28.5"tube so my rod sticks out higher than I'd like and doesn't fit into the reel holder notch as expected :( However! This is a great looking product, the welds are nice, it's super light, looks like one quality unit for sure! I like the etched ruler on the tube, overall happy with this unit, just wished my new 12' surf rods fit better! Can't wait to get out there and put it to use!

A must-have heavy duty spike for surf fishing. If you are a crackjack welder with aluminum or stainless steel, you might be able to build this yourself. The rest of us mere mortals have something better to do; surf fishing! White PVC pipe works if you are on a tight budget, but I like the foot peg on this one. Stop it right into the sand. Keeps your expensive surf rod and reel up high and out of the water and sand. Sand eats reels. Great investment. Tight lines!
