Great book for reluctant readers and unconventional kids
My 7-year-old daughter tends to march to the beat of her own drum. This book was a perfect match for her, because the little girl heroine is very much her own person, a bit of an outcast but cool, and true to herself. Her persecutors get their come-uppance in the end, and the two friends accept each other for who they are. The graphic novel format is great for reluctant readers. My daughter has read this over and over by herself. The drawings are great. I was so lucky to have found this at the library, and it was so hard to return it, that we bought a copy to keep. I highly recommend this book.

Great for Older struggling readers
This book is presented in a comic book format. I use it with some of my older students 4th grade + who are only reading at a late 1st and 2nd grade level. It has simpler woirds but an older interest level. The pictures help them with comprehension, and the story line about a girl and a gator both trying to be accepted for who they are is a nice tale. It would still be an easy and fun read for someone reading at a higher level but they would go through the book very quickly.

easy book!
My 5 year old just loves this book. After a few reads, she can read through it herself and enjoys the story very much. A cute, easy book!

Discontinued favorite.
This is my daughter's FAVORITE book from the library. After repeated check outs I finally decided to buy her her own copy. I heard that the hardback was being discontinued because a paperback will be out February 2015. Hence the high price I suppose. I thought it would be worth it to pay extra for the hardback edition.

Absolutely awesome!
Very funny and beautifully done. Bought it for my youngest (7) but I think the rest of my kids read it too. As did hubby and I.

Great Read!! All Ages will Love it!
Gabby and Gator is a full color comic book like storybook following an unlikely friendship between a girl and a gator. Easy to follow. Clean for all ages. James Burk's artwork is marvelous!

What I loved about this book
I really loved this book. The parts I liked were Gabby playing her tuba (her face when she is playing it is funny, and the sound it makes, BURP! BURT!) the golf cart vs Gator car chase, and Gabby and the bully’s final battle, in which she defeats him and then he runs away. Really loved it, can’t stop thinking about it now. I wish that a sequel would come out, Gabby and Gator 2. That’s the review from my son., who is 12.
