High quality shower screen
These have held up much better than I expected after over a year of daily use. Just be aware that they are not flimsy, which in turn means the are a little thicker than most. Not an issue for me in my current machine (Rocket), but it doesn’t work as well with my smaller Rancilio Silvia which has a lot less space between the machine’s shower screen and the top of the puck.

Quality and easy to clean
Huge fan of what this has done my daily espresso routine. Adding this on top of the puck made for really clean and consistent espresso shots time after time. It fit perfectly in the portafilter as well. The puck screens are really well made and have a nice weight to them. I had expected something pretty flimsy so I was impressed with this. A bonus is that pucks are also really easy to clean, making it easy to adopt into my routine.

Helps reduce channeling and improves the coffee of the expresso
I think it is a great tool to minimize channeling when pulling an expresso shot. It is important to consider that it will add extra thickness to the pack so you need a larger filter basket that you would normally need. In my case, I have a Bezzera BZ13 and I use a 18 grams IMS portafilter with a 14.5 grams dose. If the 1.7 millimeters is pressed against the screw that holds the screen in your expresso machine, you can try the 1 millimeter puck screen or a larger basket. In my case, another thing I like is that I can do a quick pre infusion without having to worry so much about the pressure. My machine does not have a preinfussion without pressure, the pump does turn on. So this way, the puck does not get that first impact, as the puck screen will slow down the pressure. I leave it like that for 15’ seconds before pulling the shot and it turns out great!

Improved Extraction with Minor Stand Quirks
I picked up this Normcore 2-Pack Puck Screen Set specifically to see if it would help with water distribution and keep coffee grounds out of the group head. The Good: • Solid Build Quality: The Stainless Steel mesh is robust and feels like it will last a long time without warping. • Clean Group Head: Significantly limits the amount of coffee grounds that get sucked back into the machine, making daily cleanup faster. • Reduced Channeling: More even extractions and more compact, easy-to-eject pucks. • Thickness Options: Having both 1.0mm and 1.7mm options is great for experimenting depending on your dose and roast level (use the thicker screen for darker roasts & finer grinds The Not-So-Good: • Difficult to Deep Clean: While a quick rinse works for daily use, coffee oils can build up inside the fine mesh over time. It requires more than just water to get them back to "like new" condition. • Stand Fitment Issues: The silicone stand isn't a perfect design. The grooves are too wide for the thinner 1.0mm screen, making it feel unstable and less premium than the screens themselves. • Value: It’s a solid product, but at this price point, you expect the accessories (like the stand) to be perfectly tuned. It feels a bit expensive for what you get in the box. Pro Tips: Pay attention to your headspace. Adding a 1.7mm screen might require you to lower your coffee dose by 1–2 grams to prevent the screen from pressing too hard against the group head screw. For maintenance, don't just rely on rinsing; a regular soak in espresso cleaner is necessary to keep those fine mesh holes clear of oils.

Useful to maintain pressure, but not necessary
These screens are well-made and fairly easy to clean. They fit fine in my Normcore and Breville baskets. The screen certainly does help keep the espresso machine clean. If I didn't prepare the puck well, this has helped control splatter. I will that it does increase the shot pressure by 1-1.5 bar. So if you're having trouble maintaining pressure (puck prep, old beans, lighter shot, etc), then I think these will certainly help. But, if you consistently achieve the desired pressure, then these really aren't necessary in my opinion. More often then not, I just don't see a need to use them. Nothing to do with the product itself. It's just not always useful for me.

Great add to keep your group head clean
With this hobby I am always looking for the next improvement. I was not sure how this would work. It does work fine. I also upgraded my group head with a flush mount screw (which is needed at least for me). I am not sure this changes flavor of my cup at all but what it does do is keep the group head clean. My Silvia tray used to be dirty with fines. With this screen my tray is almost only water. A huge improvement. I use a 25gram basket with 25 gram and while the screw leaves a small mark on the screen there is no issue using it.

A New Essential for Espresso
Trying to figure out how to elegantly retrieve the screen from the puck in the knock box. Otherwise, it’s been a great tool addition to aid in adding consistency to my work flow. It has resulted in improving the taste, flavor and overall quality of my espresso shots. Go figure?

Saves time on maintaining system
Keeps the brew head clean at no detriment to espresso shots. Quick back-flush after the family has all had their morning coffee drinks. No water wasted in between shots rinsing brew head.
