I liked it, I think....
I read Maestra a while back and seemed to remember I liked the book. Upon learning of a follow-up book, I thought I’d give it a try. I had a bit of a problem following the story, especially with all the various characters. The book was a change of pace from what I usually enjoy reading. I did very much appreciate the sophisticated vocabulary and style, however, sometimes I was left trying to figure out what was going on or unable to understand certain references. All things considered, I ultimately think it was a pretty cool read notwithstanding I sometimes felt confused or that topics were over my head. I think the author’s writing and word choice are superior; possibly too much for an average reader. The worldliness of the book seemed necessary and didn’t bother me.

Disappointing after Maestra
Gave Maestra 5 stars and a rave review. This one fell short and the last part of the book seemed strange, for reasons I cannot explain without a spoiler. This one was mildly entertaining but was not a real thriller. Some of the scenes seemed far-fetched and the main character lost luster compared to Book One. There are several sexual scenes that seemed overwrought and not especially evocative — too much detail and too little soul. I will read reviews of Book 3 carefully before buying it.

Not as good as Maestra - actually not even close!
Not as good as her first book, but I finished it! I will say there was WAY TOO MUCH art history, like more than my average mom brain could handle! The sex appeal was gone from the first book and her mystery was lacking in comparison, but if I hadn't read Maestra, I probably wouldn't have cared for this at all! I had SO many high hopes after reading Maestra that I was SO eager to read this. I did like the further character development as well as the history with the main characters mom!

Engaging. Utterly engaging.
Maestra really opened me up to the inner machinations of the femme fatale. Domina REALLY explored those same machinations and gave me even more feelings to experience--wonder, shock, and lust!It was a hell of a ride!

Domina & LS Hilton
Will not recommend. Did not realize it is a trilogy so very annoyed when it ended with. T o be Concluded. I wanted an ending thank you very much & won't be recommending L S Hilton to anyone - too frustrating! Lois Taylor

I loved Maestra as a the guilty pleasure read
I loved Maestra as a the guilty pleasure read; I devoured it on short plane flights while traveling across Alaska for work. Unfortunately, Domina has hardly any of what made Maestra so fun to read (murder, sex, art history, fashion....more sex....). While it's certainly entertaining, it was a letdown for me story-wise and the lack of the intrigue that made Hilton's first book in the series so fun just made it a slow plod through a poorly written crime thriller. Very sad, because I was so ready to love it!

Read it in two days
I love her style of writing. Flows flawlessly from the 1st book to the next! I already ordered the last book.

Put it down, not even half way through
Couldn't even finish this book. Loved Maestra. Even bought it as a gift for a friend, but this came nowhere close. Wish I'd read the reviews before I rushed to buy Domina. At times felt like I was reading an art history book. Too many references to the art world. I wanted a story not a history lesson.

Such a shame doesn't live up to book 1
I love book 1. But I'm not a fan of book 2. It's hard to describe why but I wasn't invested in the characters the story seem disconbected the onward journey was a let down. And I found the book rambling on in parts stuff I call the padding so i had to skip chunks to finally pick up with the story again. Not enough murders either has Judith gone soft. I've purchased book 3 I hope it redeems itself. If not i won't be returning to this author again.

Read the whole trilogy
I really liked the whole series of books, actually well described fun interspersed with action and plot twists.Warning - if you don’t like the really naughty c word then you won’t like it.If the mind numbingly boring 50 shades of bland rubbish made you blush then this will make your head explode. Not ideal for the church group book club but fab if you don’t have to clutch your pearls every time sex is mentioned.

An opportunity for the author to show off her extensive vocabulary and knowledge!
Very disappointing. Was eagerly awaiting for this book to be released. Different from the first book as the characters have moved on. Good story, however at times difficult to read and had to read several scenes twice. Complicated descriptive language and explanations embedded within scenes which disrupt the flow of the book and the scene as at times, seemed as though the author had gone off on a tangent and needed to impress her readers with the extensive knowledge and vocabulary. Overall enjoyable but hindered by the unessesary added details.

More Caravaggio, less raunch.
A much more conventional thriller/mystery - and packed with even more art history - it's equally well-written but has less of the shock value of her earlier book (and there's, very disappointingly, much less sex). I suspect I'm not in the target demographic for this novel so the relentless product placement once again washed straight over me but the lady certainly has style.

Loved LS Hilton’s novels. I bought her triology
This novel transports you on an exciting adventure and is beautifully written. My only criticism is that I found the sexual scenes on occasion too graphic.
