I love this item! Just arrived today and I immediate placed it in the freezer. Tried it out in a couple of hours and my shoulder pain melted away. Not sure how long it lasted, just know I felt soooooo much better. My intention is to use this after my home PT exercises. It is a gel product if that matters. I was able to put it on without assistance, just have to set the arm part first and self thread the strap and you should be able to do it alone as well. Good luck in all recovery stages.

I’ve been dealing with a very painful shoulder injury and this ice pack is one of the only reasons I get any sleep! The instructions warn not to use it while sleeping, but because I’m currently having to do so sitting straight up, I’m not worried about getting twisted in it and choking or anything like that. I also wear a thick shirt between the cooling pack and my skin, so I’m not at all worried about freezing my skin. It still feels plenty cold and I get lots of pain relief. Once thawed, the outside portion of the pack also works to slightly brace my shoulder, and I’m no longer being awoken by accidentally moving my arm. I went weeks with VERY little sleep before ordering and receiving this cooling pack, so it has been an absolute lifesaver.Before freezing the insert for the first time, I did have to manually redistribute the gel inside of it because it was really full in one area and almost completely empty in others. After patiently and very gently massaging the gel throughout the rest of the pack, it became much more even and freezes consistently. I do find that the gel warms much faster if it hasn’t been given at least 3-4 hours in the freezer, so it would be really nice to have more than one insert included to be able to rotate between them. I would definitely have paid extra for that if it were offered. I also wrap the insert around something rounded in the freezer so it isn’t flat when I go to use it. This helps immensely with comfort and slows down thawing because I’m not manipulating it and heating it up in an attempt to mould it to my shoulder.The outer portion of this device is really well made and overall I find it quite comfortable. It stays put and I’m very thankful to have ordered it instead of continuing to struggle to keep heavy ziploc bags full of ice & water balanced on/attached to my shoulder.I am able to get this ice pack on and off by myself by fastening both the longer strap at the back and arm closure first, threading my hand through the arm opening (like a shirt) & sliding it gently up my arm and over my shoulder. With the larger strap also already attached at the back, I then lean over slightly to be able to grab it with my opposite hand to pull forward and fasten at the front.I would absolutely purchase this again.

Works well, easy to put on by myself and great quality.The one flaw is the insert; it gets bunched up in one place and is hard to move the gel around. My insert split at the seam, so I can't use it anymore unless I buy the whole thing again ad there are no inserts sold separately. It's too bad because I only had it a month before it split.
