Too inconsistent (spoilers)
I liked book 1 but this one really seemed to drag on. In addition, the main character is recuperating from being shot in his leg but then has to climb a tree to get to a roof of a building, drop down onto the roof, save Grace and his dog from a collapsing deck by repelling out his window and using leg and arm strength to carry his weight as well as theirs back up, breaks an arm & gets a concussion and yet still feels well enough to have sofa sex the very next day while he keeps tossing her around on his lap. Anyone think they would be up for that 24 hrs after a concussion and broken arm AND still in pain from a bullet to the leg?It goes back and forth with Hugh being in pain to the next minute where he’s doing something that would be nearly impossible for a regular guy who is perfectly healthy. I bought all 3 up front, so I’m hoping book 3 is good but I think I’ll take a break and read something else in between

Decent installment in the series, but had some problems
After reading the first installment in this series recently, I was eager to get to this book. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype I had built up for it.Don't get me wrong, Hugh and Grace/Kaylee were great characters...my problem was I couldn't connect to either of them! Hugh seemed to crack jokes about everything, as if he was hiding some pain and that was his method of coping. Problem was, nothing was ever said about anything like that! Grace/Kaylee I could understand, because she was on the run, but when she spilled the beans about everything...It made me wonder what the point of her going into hiding was! I loved that we got more of what was going on with Jules and Theo. This felt a bit like an extension of their story. I kept waiting for Jules to spill about what happened with her situation! This was a decent installment in the series, but nothing spectacular.

Who is the bad guy after? Him or Her?
Jules get a call that she will have a house guest. Grace shows up and is lacking some survival skills. Like just getting through a day. Hugh shows up the day after she arrives and like Theo is a hundred and one questions. Doesn’t take Grace long to learn some survival skills. Soon there are gunshots, bombs - who is after who?Grace breaks and tells them who she is hiding from. So is someone after just Hugh or do they know where Grace/Kaylee is hiding? A good story. I was surprised that Jules hasn’t spilt the beans yet. There is a hit on Hugh but that bad guy knows about Grace/Kaylee as well, I wish that connection could have been better explained. On to book 3.Lots of bombs, g

Not really about the dog.
I have been disappointed before with Ms. Ruggles’ lack Of focus on the relationship between the dog and the hero. It kind of seems like the cozy mysteries which have the mandatory cat on the cover, sometimes with hardly a mention of the cat in the story. Just not quite satisfying on several levels, and a little like naming a book with “Girl” in the title, just because of the success of “Gone Girl”.

Non-stop action and non-stop read
This is the second book that i have read by Katie Ruggle, and she is good. I can’t wait for the third book coming out in Feb. Survive The Night. I really wish it was already out. I read the first 2 books so fast because they were unstoppable. I bought the audible versions, and the reader was excellent. I’ve never been one who liked to be read to, but I was so captured by the voice that I could listen to her as I did my daily exercises, and did them more intensely, and longer. I love this author now, and plan on buying her other books. Her books seem to be true realty, and not fiction. Some people ruin a book for me by their reviews, and I don’t want to ruin these books for anyone else. If you love action filled books with romance, and dogs you will love her books. Just buy one and you will be caught up in it that you will want more.

Grace saves Lexi. Hugh saves Grace—time and time again
Let’s just say it—Hugh is a hoot! He is absolutely perfect for Grace aka Kaylee. He’s smarter than he sounds and has a fantastic K9 partner. This one is action-packed because both Hugh and Grace are on hit lists thanks to two drug traffickers. Plot lines are great. Characters are flawlessly portrayed. The storyline is interesting. And the entertainment value is superb.

Fun loving Men
This is the second in a three part series and it delivers just as fantastic as the first. This book is centered around k9 officer Hough who is full of witty comebacks and doesn't take himself seriously. In the first book he was the comedic sidekick. It was so much fun to see his character develop and see a little further into his brilliantly funny soul. Pairing him with an equally smart woman brings out all the best in him. Not to mention every girl likes a guy with a good sense of humor! Once again, Katie Ruggle has created an great story line with interesting character and fast paced action that keeps you up for hours long after you're supposed to go to sleep. Note to self, just go ahead and call in to work tomorrow because you won't be able to put this down.

Laughing a lot here
Monroe, CO, K9 cop Hugh and hide away Grace are the focus in this novel as drug runners and organized crime look desperately to kill Hugh and sell Grace to a crime lord . Lots of sharp dialogue, good action and romance kept me happily entertained and even more satisfied as the great characters from book one continued to play an integral part.

The love semitruck is tumbling down the mountainside at high speed with no brakes!
Another good book but it is my least favourite of the series – it still has a great plot, good twists, strong characters, intrigue, drama and steam, but there were times when I found Hugh a little bit too much. Yes he is the cheeky, fun one of the trio, but at times I found him a little overwhelming – this is just my personal opinion of course but if I was Grace there were just as many times that I would have punched him as kissed him!Having said that a lighter character is needed after Theo’s dark and broody and Otto’s direct and straight to the point personalities and let’s not forget he’s a cop, a very injured cop as he keeps laying his life on the line to protect others! So although he is very full on, with the attention span of a mischievous puppy, he also has a heart of gold and protects without question. Both Grace and Hugh are startled at the speed they fall for each other, although they are helped along by the high drama situations they keep finding themselves in, they both fall hard and fast….now all they need to do is stay alive long enough to tell each other!

Brilliantly Written
Hugh and Gracie wow what a thrilling adventure, these guys from the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit really know how to show a woman a good time....lolGracie or Kaylee is in big trouble but it will all be ok she is on the run after witnessing a horrific crime, the police can't help her, well not the ones from home but maybe, just maybe the cops in a small town can help in so many ways... lolHugh is the class clown he seriously thinks he is so funny, so when he meets Gracie the new girl in town it's funny to see him fall over his tounge lol I love Huge he is such an intense guy and just so full of love for his closest friends.I really love these stories Katie Ruggle is an amazing author whom I am just so in love with.
