Hamilton Beach Pro Retro Die-Cast Drink Mixer

I bought this for my husband to replace the 20 year old machine he had been using (same brand). What I love about this one- it is insanely quiet. No more pausing the tv when he makes his nightly milkshake. It also has a very sturdy feel to it. What he loves- he says it makes a much better milkshake. It adds more air, giving it a better consistency and flavor (I’m not a milkshake drinker so I have no clue). I was initially concerned about the fact the spindle isn’t removable. I’ve now decided this isn’t such a bad thing. His previous mixer tended to get gross because he didn’t wipe the body of the machine very often. With this, it’s much easier to remember to go ahead and clean the splashes. Neither of us clean this thing according to instructions. When I tried, I ended up splashing water everywhere. Instead, I simply hold it over the sink and wipe it with a soapy dishcloth. I only got the base and the spindle, avoiding any of the electronics. Overall, I’m very pleased with this mixer.

I purchased the Hamilton Beach Professional Mixer to be used in making malts and milkshakes It is made of die-cast aluminum. It can be used to make any type of fountain, or protein drink, as well as, mixed energy drinks . I can't wait to try mixing my Margaritas!!! It is a breeze to clean. I love it. The mixer is very sturdy and the motor sounds great...just purrs so softly! . In addition, I purchased a 4 year maintenance agreement for a little over $17.00

Always wanted a milkshake maker. It arrived today. Contrary to comments read here that caused me pause, the machine makes old fashion thick shakes. Trick is not to follow the recipe in the manual, or several others online. With the cup that comes with the machine use 1/4 cup milk, 4-5 scoops of ice cream, and your favorite flavor sauce. Start with milk and 2-3 scoops of ice cream, and sauce. Add ice cream to get the thickness you want. Some comments indicated that the machine does not mix the sauce from bottom of cup. None I have seen or used will. The sauce is added to the cup last. If using malt mix that into the milk first, adding a little at a time. I don't believe one could achieve the same results with a common blender. Maybe with an immersion blender. It is light compared to those around in the 60's and 70's. Appears to be sturdy enough. The warranty leaves a bit to be desired. It requires the one to pay cost of shipping to company and return to you. Such can exceed the cost of a new machine, making the warranty essentially worthless to consumer.

It has two speeds, anything that contains only liquids it does an easy work. Once you begin to add crushed ice it begins to feel like a slight struggle even on the second speed, I tried making a milkshake and it struggle with the ice cream a feint smell was coming from the motor. I originally purchased this to relive part of my childhood, my parents would always make milkshakes on the weekends and all summer long. I’m giving it a 4 star simply because it does work and the motor smell is a bit concerning for its durability.

This device is very simple, and seems sturdy, and for all I know maybe this is similar to those used in malt shops in the 50s. I don’t know. But it’s not perfect. It took a few tries before I was able to make a semi-normal milkshake. Had to watch a few videos, try different ingredient quantities, and really move the cup all around while it was mixing. You certainly can’t just put the ingredients in the cup and turn it on. Also there is a serious flaw in the design. The mixing shaft cannot be removed for cleaning!! It’s like, seriously…WHAT?!?!? Who the heck thought that made sense?

I like the metal casing, product should last a long time. I am enjoying my chocolate malted shakes, homemade! Just make sure you don't overfill past the mark on the mixing cup, as detailed in the instructions. It will overflow. Happened the first time I made a shake. Hasn't happened again. Easy to clean, I fill the metal container with warm water and run the mixer. Wipe it down with a towel and it's ready for the next time. I'm really happy with the purchase.

DO NOT BUY! I bought this after reading several reviews. I wanted good old fashioned milk shakes. And I wanted a mixer that would last. First of all, this drink mixer does NOT make thick milk shakes. It makes very thin shakes. But more problematic, this PROFESSIONAL quality mixer did not make it through making 2 drinks. We made the first one (slowly, and it turned out thin), we kept going and made the second (so my husband could have one) and the motor started smoking. We turned it right off, but it burned the motor up, and now it won't even turn on. For this price point, and for a product that is labeled as "professional", this is just really disappointing. I have contacted Hamilton Beach to see if they can either refund my money, or send me a mixer that won't burn up after making 1 drink. I will update if I hear back from them...

What can I say, it performed as expected, I was able to make a milkshake at home better than almost any place around. It’s best to spend a little bit more and get one with a minimum of 100 watt motor I’ve burnt up a 70 watt mixer in the past. Why skimp

almost burned it, not mentioned it is 110V thats why other reviews also have the same problem you need 220v to 110v convertor to run this, but machine is amazing

Stirring shaft is all metal - which is what I was looking for.

Horrible product I used it once and started sparking and burning almost created a disaster!! Now i am just waiting for my refund forever!!!!!
