Very nice lid. If you need a replacement, give them a try, but I'm not sure if it's worth the cost to upgrade outright.
I partially freeze my water bottles for the day over night, and every so often I accidentally leave one in there. When that happens, occasionally the bottle itself will crack, but more often than not, the threads on the lid just get shredded up and the cap bursts off, so I end up replacing a lid a month or so. when I saw that these were something like $1.50 more, I decided to give them a shot. Here's a few quick pieces of info for future buyers. Pros: -The spout is great. I always get the large mouth nalgenes because it's easier to throw lemon slices in there if I want, and it's much easier for cleaning, but the big mouth can be awkward. This is a pretty good compromise. The spout is about the size of a glass soda bottle (probably a little thinner) and very comfortable to drink out of, but removes for cleaning. -These seem way sturdier than I expected. Nalgene always makes nearly indestructible products, so I don't know why I was surprised, but something about the design seems . . .tenuous. I can assure you, it's not. This is a very substantial product. We'll see how it survives a fall if I mishandle it rock climbing, but for day to day use, I have no doubt that this would survive a fall from head height. -The lid closes with both a plastic catch/push button on the front, and a wire swing gate. This thing is not coming open by accident. My guess is that it would break before it opened in a drop. -I've hung it by a carabiner and attached it to my bike already and it doesn't seem any worse for wear. The loop is definitely handle worthy. -The closing mechanism is a little stiff to provide a solid seal, but I have absolute confidence that there won't be any leaks or drips. Cons: -This obviously adds to the height of the nalgene. It's not much, but it just so happens to be just enough to make it catch on the zipper on my messenger bag, so I'm sure I'm noticing it way more than anyone else would. -The only part on the lid I'm even slightly worried about is the push button mechanism. It seems very sturdy, but getting opened dozens of times a day every day might be rough. I will update if it ever snaps. If I haven't updated, you can assume the latch is still holding firm. Any other complaints I have are cosmetic, so I can't really hold them against the product. It would be cool if there were more colors (the bottle I needed this for was orange). I like the classic nalgene look, these look a little over-designed for my tastes. All and all, when I wind up screwing up a new lid, I'm not sure which way I'll go. It'll probably depend on how this top is holding up. I definitely won't be upgrading unless the current tops on my nalgenes get damaged. A nalgene on amazon is something like $12, parting with $7 for a lid upgrade seems a little silly to me, but if I'm replacing the lid anyways, it's probably a toss up between the classic ones and these. If you need to replace your lid anyways, check them out.

Replace your screw top with this pop top!!
Great top. Easy to open and stays securely closed when clasped. Much preferred to the standard screw top. Our guide in Nepal loved it so much, that we gifted it and the bottle to him. Will definitely be repurchasing.

Great for Nalgene! Do not buy for Hydro Flask.
These work really well for making your Nalgene bottle a little more user friendly. They work great on the 32 or 48 ounce versions. A little more handy on the 32 than 48 though (repeatedly lifting a foot long 3 pound bottle to your face is not the quickest or easiest thing) This is a very handy top. It is also pretty sturdy. There have been at least 2 occasions I have dropped it on a side walk while attached to a full 32 ounce Nalgene. It got a little scuffed but still functions like new. Make sure you use the metal band to lock the lid shut. I forgot to do it a couple times and once the bottle opened in my bag and got everything wet. Luckily there were no electronics so nothing got ruined but it definitely was an eye opener. I am much more careful now. Hydro Flask: I had originally bought this for my 32 ounce insulated Hydro Flask. It's the same shape and size(roughly, very similar. Hydro Flask is a little taller and maybe a tiny smidgen less in diameter than the Nalgene). However these DO NOT WORK on the Hydro Flask. Water leaks around the threads. When screwing the cap onto the Hydro Flask it feels just fine like it's meant for it, it doesn't bind up or feel too loose. Because of this I'm thinking you might be able to get away with using some teflon tape around the threads to seal it better. There's a space on the underside of the cap that looks like it would be perfect for an o-ring. If you could get one just the right size it might also stop the water leakage problem.

Wash it frequently
Works well but make sure you are cleaning it often. I got mold on it and it would not go away. I hade to throw it out and get a new one

Compatible with other water bottles
I use this for my Klean Kanteen wide-mouth 16oz stainless steel water bottle and for a non-branded bottle. It fits perfectly on both. I like this lid style over many others because it doesn't have a straw part (don't need that) and you can literally use one hand to flip up the lid. Once flipped open, you can set the lid back so that it stays open in a locked position. I love that. Some people have reported that the inside of the lid where the silicone circle is can get moldy. I have never had that problem because when I'm done using it, I immediately clean the lid and set it out to dry somewhere. I've had the lid for awhile now and do not have any mold growing on the inside parts. One other thing to note: Because this lid was not made for my bottles, I don't ever lay the bottles down on their side. I use this lid with a bottle always standing up, whether it's in the bottle sleeve of my backpack or in my hand while walking. I don't actually know whether there's a leak issue if the bottle lays on its side. Just being cautious with it since the lid and bottles are not from the same brand.

Great Replacement Lid to Prevent Spills
I bought this as a replacement to my current Nalgene lid. I have the 48 oz bottle and regularly would end up with water on myself when trying to drink from it. The lid is so straight-forward to use, that I was able to take drinks from my Nalgene without spilling anything during a 2 hour drive back from a friends house. I would 100% recommend this lid based on design and use. The color is exactly as pictured. I have yet to drop it so can't speak about durability but the hinge itself feels decently sturdy enough to pit up and carry the 3lbs of water the bottle holds.

User friendly and better than the original lid.
fits great onto my 32oz wide mouth nalgene, and I honestly prefer this so much more than the original lid. This lid is fidget friendly, secure (theres a clasp that secures the closing), and has also lowered my activation energy to drinking water. Amazing.

A good product but does need to be replaced after a while
I have had to replace this product twice now, but I keep coming back to it because I believe it's worthwhile despite the issues. The first one broke. The plastic "loop" or "hook" mechanism at the front of the spout lid split in the middle, preventing it from snapping into place when closed. The cap wouldn't stay shut without locking it with the metal clasp. To avoid this, I recommend always having the metal lock in place when unscrewing and screwing the cap. This will reduce the strain on that plastic part. The second lid has formed what seems to be a moldy spot underneath the silicone seal. Tons of people mention this happening and some say they aren't sure it's actually mold. I can't be sure either, but I'm not taking any chances with a daily use water bottle, so I purchased a third cap. Why would I purchase a third cap despite these issues? Because the design is perfect for people who need a minimal barrier to entry for drinking water. The hooked cap makes the bottle easy to carry (no excuse to leave it behind), the button is way quicker than unscrewing a cap, and the lock has never failed to keep the cap closed even when the bottle has been dropped. It just works.
