A true masterpiece!
The story, the plot twists, the humor, the characters, the artwork — perfection. You simply cannot ask for anything more.

Used book
Thoroughly enjoyed the book and title. Frank Miller never disappoints. This will be the fourth time. I’ve ordered used books off Amazon and have not been disappointed. There are always some really good shape.

Very good and very nice way to end the dark knight
Obviously the first 2 that frank Miller did are 2 of the best batman dark knight comics, graphic novels, I've read. Thinking those 2 were it kinda left alot unanswered for me and didn't feel complete. Now this is such a different story then we've gotten in the 1st 2 dark knight novels by frank Miller that you might be like WTF?, BUT, that being said the way in which it is done I loved. Did I expect to see aliens and all this other stuff I won't mention because I don't want to spoil anything but from the 1st time you see the dark knight to seeing what happens after the 1st time, the surprises around every corner and the way they incorporated other super heroes in this I loved. Fun read, beautiful artwork and in way an ending to this great series. Maybe not the one you expected or anything like that but still very good and the story is rounded out and has an end I think most will enjoy.

Not the Same Calibre As Dark Knight Returns But Not All Bad Either!
Coming from one who believes that The Dark Knight Returns is the best graphic novel ever written and who was underwhelmed by the sequel DK 2 I decided to approach this latest installment of the series cautiously and without high expectations hopeful from some of the reviews here that it may still be worth getting. Overall I think the story isn't all that bad and I can safely say I enjoyed this a lot better than DK 2 and I've also resigned myself to the fact that Frank Miller is probably never going to reach the heights again that he achieved with DK 1. That said, this story does hold up well among what has been released these days although at points the heavily expressionist Kubert and especially so the occasional Miller artwork was jarring at first and needs some getting used to. One does wonder if this was deliberate or just a quick and shabby way to meet some imposed deadline although it's safe to say Jim Lee fans will have a cardiac arrest looking at some of the "artwork" here and so will George Perez if he sees how Wonder Woman is drawn here. As a personal favourite it was nice to see Ray Palmer's Atom play an important role in this story although we also get a few other heroes involved before the end.As for the infamous DC binding the good news is that this hardcover release has a nice dust cover that goes over a nicely designed and different art motif main cover. The spine is glued but I guess for the 300 or so pages here it's sufficient and my copy stays open on a flat surface from the first 10 pages onwards. I don't see any gutter loss on my copy and so at least in this case DC has done alright as far as hardcover binding is concerned. This will probably not make it to my top 10 favourite Batman stories list but that said it may make my top 20 and I like the overall theme of not being taken in by mass hysteria and groupthink that's largely due to mass and social media but to conquer our fears of aliens and to resist isolationism and insularism or to risk mindlessly following and contributing to the selfish agenda of individual leaders whether that of Kandor or that of the "free" world. I especially liked the part where Trump calls for a gigantic net to surround the world to protect it from super aliens; I wonder who he'll get to pay for that? I also found the ending scenes between "fathers" and "daughters" i.e. Bruce/Carrie and Clark/Lara to be especially poignant and satisfying. I suggest if you can to read this after Waid/Ross' "Kingdom Come" so you can to get a sense of how the relationship among the Trinity has improved greatly over the years.Good but not great and yet still overall a fun read.

Good ideas!
Like this story, hope to see a continuation with the same creative team. Liked the different artists used for the side stories.

Great for the fans, not so much for people looking to start getting into the comics
This is perhaps my comic of the year, maybe this is because I just finished it before writing this review, but I could not put this down for one second. It's definitely the craziest of any of the Dark Knight Returns comics, but it's not without its flaws. The book is basically one huge graphic novel of several smaller volumes. The issue is that some of the drawing standards could be done better, and some panels are laughably bad. They had a great character to be the main villain and he feels kind of wasted, and the ending comes close to Justice League (TV Series) level of convenient endings. For me personally, it was kind of upsetting and took the weight out of some scenes.Other than those issues, this comic is absolutely amazing. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who was a fan of the The Dark Knight Returns series. But if you're brand new to the DC universe I probably wouldn't recommend it. There'll be a lot of things that will fly over your head, and while it does try its best to explain everything some initial character knowledge helps.I'll give this 5 stars for being exactly what we wanted, closure, but for a standalone Batman comic, it's probably a 4 star. It's really a graphic novel for the fans who've waited for what felt like an eternity to see how the series ends, and it delivers. For anyone looking to get into The Dark Knight, I'd recommend starting with the classics like "The Long Halloween", or "The killing joke" before delving into this one. Watching some Justice League would help too.P.S. There are some great political allusions in here, especially of a certain blonde, orange color president.

Frank Miller means quality.
Sin City style story brought to DC. Great stuff. Any lover of Frank Miller's drawn style need to have this title in their collection.b

Sensacional e empolgante

An unconventional great place to start
I am a newcomer to the world of Batman graphic novels, and my wife was for some reason drawn to this one. This is actually the first of Frank Miller's stories that I've read and I absolutely loved it!This book, unlike many other comics I've read, has placed an important role in absolutely everything character it introduces to the story and I love the way the heros are pushed and pulled across the plot. It's a very unique twist on the classic DC characters we all know and love. The artwork is at times beautiful, and often frantic. As a sense of urgency arises throughout the piece I find the artwork appears more rushed and primitive. All in all, this was a very good place for casual readers like my wife and I to get into. I'll definitely be purchasing Frank Miller's other works (after I reread this one a time or two!)
