Baker Hydro Skimmer Basket V50-105

I hate cheaply made crap that breaks easily. The last basket I ordered for my pool cracked and crushed in on itself in less than a month. This basket however is the most well engineered piece of pool equipment I have ever seen. It is about four times thicker than the regular cheap baskets, it is nicely weighted and just stays in place, the handle on the side is solid and won't break or impede debris from entering or leaving the basket. I would like to hug whoever made this. Honestly, I will probably pass this basket on to my kids as an heirloom when I die. It will probably survive the apocalypse. If you hate cheap plastic stuff, then buy this. It cost a lot more, but it is worth every penny.

Bought one to see if I liked it, bought the second one once I used the first. Nice and heavy-duty. No more having to 'push' the basket into place - this one sinks immediately into place. There's a small ledge piece in the plastic for easy grabbing when you need to empty the debris.

After buying a couple cheap replacement baskets for our Baker Hydro skimmer, I decided to try this one. The design and build is the best I’ve ever seen. As others have said, the plastic is much thicker, it has a built in weight in the bottom, and you can grip it more easily from the top edge of the basket to remove it. Outstanding American engineering and manufacturing! Totally worth the extra cost!

Sometimes pool guy doesn’t get cap on correctly, with old baskets…everything floats to top and gets into system. These stay in place. Excellent construction. Will buy again.

As other reviewers have mentioned, this basket is far better built than the cheaper alternatives. It has thick plastic and is nicely weighted to sink to the bottom of the skimmer. It should last far longer than the thin plastic baskets I've tried.

This basket is weighted enough that it falls into place without needing to weigh it down which is great because my old one would float up if I didn’t put a rock in it. Floating up is bad because that allows leaves to be sucked into the filter pump. I also like that it is sturdy and has a built in handle that makes it easy to grab and pull up out if skimmer. I’m going to order another one fir my other skimmer!

Unlike cheap, flimsy skimmer baskets with thin breakable grip bands that pop off, this skimmer is ridged, and won't split if the skimmer is full of leaves (especially after a storm). The handle grip to pull the basket out of the skimmer (for cleaning) is ingeniously built into the lip of the basket from the inside of the basket. No skinning your knuckles on the skimmer enclosure or pool deck when removing the basket. The lip of the basket is wide, and rides on the top of the skimmer can, so you don't have to dig down to grip and remove it for cleaning. If you use pool socks (which I highly recommend) with the basket, the socks fit nicely over the lip of the basket without tearing.

more expensive than others I bought, But worth it. extremely well made and should last a long time.The built in lip to remove basket works great andis a good idea to eliminate cheap handles that always break.
