how long should I buy if Im 5ft 8in

Depends upon where you will place the anchor ie: Top of Locked Door and what type of exercises you will do. Remember the Resistance bands stretch depending on which you are buying. Happy Exercising, it has helped me with my Rheumatoid Challenged hands. Ruth H 5 Miles from Disneyland, CA

How do I put it together

It was together when I received it. I haven't used the door handle. I would imagine you would put the ring in the other side of a closed door and slide the band through the slot.

Are these made in the USA?

I no longer have the packaging that came with it. And it does not say on the item itself where it was made. I would suggest trying to go to the manufacturers website FRITFIT and see if there’s some information there

What does strength mean? For example, is 30 lbs band equivalent to 30 lbs dumbell for biceps curls?

No the band is not the same. I think, not sure, the strength is referring to lbs of resistance. I am no expert but sharing with hopes to be helpful: I lift 15 lb dumbbells in each hand for bicep curls 14 reps x 3 sets. This band is challenging, I also do 16 reps x 3 for biceps AND it may be used for triceps, leg curls, etc. A guide came with the band and was useful. Good luck!
