I originally bought the purple, & somehow it bent. So, I bought the gray. It works well for recording phone calls that don't require the mic. Leaving the mic open, causes unwanted feedback on the recording. I will buy another soon.

Bought a 5 pack. Laptop 1 (Acer): No change, device still uses internal mic, but the mic-bloc cuts out the speakers, so I can't block the mic without losing the ability to watch a movie or do youtube, etc. Laptop 2 (HP): Mic-block works, but by completely killing the recording function of the laptop. As soon as you plug it in, the laptop stops recording, firing off a recording error message. They look nice though. I'm not saying they won't work for everyone, quite possible with some windows tweaking, and maybe depending on drivers etc on your laptop possibly they could work fine. Update Feb 4th, 2019 - The owner of the company, Ric, reached out to work with me on the issues I was having, and has offered some awesome alternative suggestions that look like they will help. Perfect tool. I love it. Minimal. Easy to install. Nothing flashy or extra. Just gets the job done. Just plug it into your headset jack and check your sound and you should be good. In fact, I keep forgetting I have in the jack when I actually do need to speak during remote meetings.

This little device works. Static is heard on the other end when engaged. I can use the speaker phone while this is plugged in fine, and it still blocks apps from listening. Unfortunately, there are times when I need to remove it when I cannot communicate using the speaker phone on my Android cell phone because the caller on the other end would just hear static. When I do that, sometimes I lose it because it is so small. When I use it on my laptops, I never need to unplug. It does the job nicely. Also, I noticed in recent years that they have additional colors. It used to be Black or Grey. Now, there are many other colors.

This thing works perfectly! My ex is stalking me and he suddenly knew way too much about my day to day life. I downloaded an app which told me when my mic, camera and location were turned on and off and wow! I an ther opposite of a tech nerd and am mor like the models on zoolander "the files are IN the computer" then I smash the screen. Embarrassing but true. Since I can't figure out how to get him out I figured I would do my best to block him. I was sceptical but im so happy. The only problem is with me. I forget it's in and I answer a call but I can't hear anything and they can't hear me and I couldn't figure out what was wrong until it suddenly hit me. Duh! Total palm in face moment! I feel a lot mor secure now. I lose it all the time because it's tiny but it comes back eventually.

Fwiw, completely eliminates audio on my MacBook Air macOS Tahoe 26.0.1.

Why does this also have to block the speaker so I can't watch youtube videos?

Great little device. My friend and I were recently talking about how we could hear of something or are talking about something and then grab our phones to look it up and basically the search words get filled in immediately, as if the devices are always listening. I received a phone call and forgot to unplug the mic lock and the person couldn't hear me, so it works. I'll get the camera lens covers next.

Excellent product that just perfectly works in laptops, iMac and mobile phones. The mic-lock is well built and uses quality materials. On some devices it will stick out a bit but doesn’t affect it working. Highly recommended

I plugged the unit to my smartphone. The smartphone is supposed to believe there is an external microphone connected and disable the built-in microphones. To validate this I recorded a video with the Mic-Lock properly plugged. When I played back the video all the sound was there. I tried several times and it never blocked the microphones. Conclusion: Does not work as expected.
