It slides over the belt. This is a great "3rd Hand". Makes tying new flies and lures on much easier.

Q: Will this work for cork handled spinning rods?

That's a good question. I've only used it with my fly rod. My fly rod has a 7 inch cork handle and it fits fine. My spinning rod only has a 4 inch handle which will fit in the O'Pro but only barely (the outside measurements between the O'Pro hooks are 3 and 1/2 inches) . What may occur is your spinning reel getting in the way. The other thing to take into consideration will you be placing anything else on the same side of the belt you are attaching the O'Pro to like a water bottle etc. This may limit your options as to the angle the O'Pro is set to. Hope this helps.

Q: What exactly does the cord do?

You can pull the upper cord down and over the hooks that hold the rod. This keeps the rod from slipping out of if it’s a lose fit. There is a you tube video on it.

Q: Can you use this to hold a second rod while actively casting and fishing? Can you use it to easily swap rods on the river during a day of fishing?

Yes you can use it to carry a rod while you are actively fishing you can also clip it there during a break or however you wish to utilize it
