Really nice
I collect the smaller transformers where the alt modes are 1:43ish for cars and 1:72ish for planes. And Im a huge combiner fan so this is a dream come true. Yes the combined mode is kind of terrible. But if you consider the combined mode as a bonus the robot and dino modes are quite good. Combined is acceptable. His face is a great centerpiece for the chest. Its very possible 3rd party companies will create upgrades that can help visually. All of them need the correct swords. All of these desperately need sticker upgrades which Im hopeing toyhax will come through and design a set of stickers for all 6 once the set is finished. But now is the time to get these. Once the upgrades start rolling in people will want these and demand and prices will go up.

Decent tiny hellraiser
Unlike his wavemate Sludge the new Core class Slug (aka Slag) is a fun toy in all three modes. As a robot he's a pretty decent facsimile of his G1 self (aside from no Autobot symbol in the Dino mouth which makes his chest look rather bland) and in triceratops mode he's a pretty cute tiny killing machine with no jarring visible gaps like Sludge (robot hands are visible on the back of the front dino paws but it's not that noticeable). His tail is a separate two piece attachment that becomes his gun mode in robot mode and separates to become the combiner Volcanicus's head and lower chest piece (so don't lose it unless you want a headless combiner). The Dinobots are obviously planned to be retooled/repainted into the Decepticon Dinoforce later and as such Slug's triceratops form is the chest of Volcanicus much like Kakuryu was for Dinoking. As a chest piece Slug is extremely sturdy when attached correctly to Sludge with no annoying floppy bits getting in the way to the point you have to apply a bit of force to separate the two (not too much though).tldr: Decent tiny representation of the character in both modes, preliminary look at the two combiner parts we have so far looks like he'll fare well there too. Recommended if you're a Dinobots fan even if you aren't interested in the Volcanicus combiner.

Core class transformers are fun
I love core class , sure they aren't the most detailed and don't have the most complex transformations, but they really are nice for 12 dollars. I also like that they are small and take up minimal space.

A good cheap figure.
Like all core class figures Slag may be small but he is a great gift for a child or a friend.

Tiny but mighty
Cool little dinobot(not tiny but definitely a much smaller version of the average transformer.) Easy to transform and looks good. The most exciting part is it's part of a collection that will form into a mini VOLCANICUS!!!! Can't wait to finish the collection.

Great little gift for kids, terrible choice for adult collectors.
If you're a parent searching for a good transforming robot toy for your child, know that this is a good choice. Its transformation is simple, it's durable enough that it'll withstand the play of rough children, and it's overall cute and simple. If you're an adult Transformers fan, steer clear of this one. Core Class Slug is a severe downgrade in terms of engineering and poseability from previous Kingdom and Legacy Cores. His robot mode is disproportionate, with thick legs and tiny arms, his Triceratops mode is super thin and lacking heft, and, most insultingly, he completely lacks elbow articulation. I can't even think of the last time any Transformer didn't have elbow movement (Titan/Prime/Battle Masters aside).I'm giving Slug three stars because I can step outside of myself and realize that a toy that a bitter adult hates can easily bring great joy to a child. That, and there's still hope for Volcanicus to be good.
